Super Boy

Jewel was still in and covered this morning. Mike led Evan out without a leadrope. Just walked him over to Jewel and let him do his job. He is SO well behaved.
Braelyn got to come on the walk and Diane watched her while I was holding Jewel. It didn't take more than a few minutes. When Anna was done with work Braelyn was taken to Meister's to be picked up there as checks needed to be deposited and bills paid. Once back at the farm Steven was there working with Super.

Above is SUPER born September 15th, 2007 out of Cindy by RAVEN. He stands right at 15 hands as a 4 year old. He was gelded at a year old. Super is for sale but read farther before offering on this one. He is gorgeous! He has the shiny blue black coat of his daddy.
Steven thinks he should be named Super Stupid but really it isn't his fault. He had an owner that let him walk all over her. When he wanted to graze, he led, she followed. Not good at ALL! Please people, if you don't know how to consistantly work a young one DON'T BUY a young one!
Super was owned by Rebekah Davidovics. She sold him as a weanling to a lady in Iowa and for the last 3 and a half years he has had his way on EVERYTHING. It is a good thing these Raven babies are not mean.
The owner could not keep a pasture ornament any longer and asked if we would buy him. He is gorgeous and knowing he is a Raven son out of Cindy he should be very trainable.
Below are a few pictures of his FIRST training session.

The first time he was tied, he decided not to stay tied and broke a lead rope. The NEXT time he was tied with 2 bull snaps and left standing for a while. Tomorrow we will try this again.
When Super was taken out of the paddock, he was fine until he realized he was going IN the barn and not OUT to the pasture. He was strong enough to pull right through the rope. Time for a chain over his nose. Steven gave him a leading lesson with a chain over his nose. He will not be taken out of his paddock from now on without a chain until he learns manners. Super also would not stay out of Steven's space and needed to be taught that is also a no, no.
By the time Mike showed up Super was leading well, even following Mike back into the barn every time he was asked.
He was glad to head back to his paddock after having to MIND! What a great rump he has.

He couldn't wait to roll once back.

Super is for sale now for only $2500.00 as he will need to be trained. Once he is under saddle his price will be $5000.00. He looks like those very expensive Dale ponies from England. He is STRONG and will be able to carry a good sized person around a cross country course for years without breaking down. We will not sell him to just anybody. The prospective owner must be experienced or willing to hire a trainer.
We are heading out early with Bunni and Paris tomorrow for the Spoon River Drive. Now that we live in Hanna City it is only a short 10 mile trip. As long as we leave before the traffic starts we will be fine not going tonight.
Exciting news is the tack room barn has LIGHTS. Meister Electric sent Tommy out. He not only installed 2 lights in that barn he put in an outlet. Karin will be so pleased. Now it's time to start installing saddle racks and shelves.

  1. In the third photo, he looks a lot like Apelles. "Falcon" aka Sebastian had quite the work out today with James Cooler. He is being taught to respect space and not push through pressure. I think you will be very proud of him when I post it on my blog. He is an exceptionally smart horse and the first colt that he has broke that didn't buck. But Sebastian is big and strong and like you said, these horses must learn manners. I hope he finds the perfect home.
