Joan's Revenge

Another beautiful sunrise but even before the sun rose we saw dolphins feeding right in front of the condo. The video was taken from the 10th floor balcony of mom's condo in Island Royale.

Not long after the sun broke through. The picture below is before the breakthrough. The colors change so dramatically.

Greg was already out fishing, Joan and Berlica joined him. When the Waibel kids came out to play Berlica and Cheyenne went paddle boarding. Joan took the picture below.
The sun was so bright that everything I took from the balcony looked like it was taken in black and white. Below are Cheyenne and Berlica paddle boarding in the Gulf.
Cooper tried out the paddle board and even stood.
Joan and Greg caught a lot of whiting and mullet. As Greg was fishing so were the dolphins and one ran right into Greg's line giving his pole quite a jerk. They kept the eating size and threw back the rest.
The biggest fish caught was Greg pulling in a shark. This shark was actually pulled in from the lagoon waters. On Saturday they asked Greg had he ever seen a shark in the lagoon and the answer was no then wouldn't you know he pulled in a shark.
Joan stayed out fishing and playing until noon. Then came in, stopped to wash the poles.
Below she is walking up the boardwalk to the condo.
We made lunch then mom and Aunt Jinnie joined us on the beach.
I went swimming, Joan used the net out in the Gulf to catch a big ray.

The ray made it out safe on the next wave.  When we ate our lunch the gulls arrived.
Aunt Jinnie held out some of her sandwich and a gull grabbed it right out of her hand.
Just then mom put her sandwich up to take her last bite, just then a gull swooped down and grabbed her last bite. THEN it was payback time. Joan decided she was going to catch that cheeky gull and did.
Beth came down to the beach as we were hiking back to the condo so helped carry up the chairs. Mark had picked up 3 pounds of fresh shrimp for our dinner so while Beth was here she made the cocktail sauce and helped cook the shrimp.
Mark brought some to mom and Aunt Jinnie as an appetizer before dinner. They pronounced it good. We added the shrimp to our dinner of fresh fish, green beans, salad, baked mini potatoes and left over chicken as Aunt Jinnie doesn't like fish.

Dinner was delicious. We didn't finish until after the sun set but got the last of the gold off the balcony.
Cheyenne is spending the night with Berlica, we are watching a movie called The Unmiracle
Today was a full day of fun that started early. Berlica is SO thrilled to have a friend here her age.
