South Side Christian Academy

Right after breakfast Sangria and Oksana were taken into the stalls with their fillies following then each mare slipped out leaving the fillies together in one of the foaling stalls. The fillies are almost 6 months old and more than ready to wean.  Sangria, Oksana and Indy were all taken out to Middle Grove. When we drove up to the gate the herd were scattered up and down the hillside grazing.
They heard the trailer and came running to see who we were bringing out.  Below is right after I let Sangria go, the herd galloping down the hillside to meet her.
They all took off up and over the hill so Karin and I had to hike to get the 2 mares we wanted to bring home. By the time we got to the top, the horses were all spread out grazing, even Sangria and Oksana. They really were more than ready to wean their fillies.
While Karin was haltering Hadassah I went around checking on the mares taking a few pictures. If you would like to see them click HERE.  We brought back Lola and Hadassah. Right now all the mares here are due in March or the first two weeks in April.  As soon as we got back to the farm and the mares were unloaded we went to work unpacking the Exiss trailer. I was very glad for Karin's help. Once that was finished Karin went to check on Galena who was laying down. We were walking kind of soft and not saying anything when Galena's legs started twitching and her head started moving. Karin asked, "is she seizing?" but no she was dreaming she was galloping, probably remembering when the rein broke and she took off with Nolan. We laughed and that woke her and her reaction caused us to break out in laughter again. She scrambled up as fast as she could. Karin left to go work at Jessica's house while I worked on unpacking and laundering the saddle pad covers and the rest of the laundry. Mark, mom, Joan, Spark and Rhonda all went tonight to the South Side Christian Academy open house this evening. Rachel is the music teacher and the kids put on a cute program.
This was very well attended. The room was packed and it really was standing room only.
I took the picture above from my phone and Rachel took the picture below with her phone.
We stopped at Spark and Rhonda's to get some paper work done before they leave for Branson then Mark drove me right up to the barn so I could check on the fillies and fill water bucket. Anna was also brought in as she is the next mare due. I thought I saw a little waxing on her udder tonight but when I reached under her I didn't feel anything. She isn't due until March 19th and last year went 10 days late. Hadassah is the next mare due March 23rd but I still think Rosalie might beat both of them even though she isn't due until April 6th. She was actually left out tonight though as I needed the foaling stall for weaning. Mare's that are here for birthing are: Anna due March 19th, Hadassah due March 23rd, Marika due April 1st, Lola and Rosalie both due April 6th, Galena due April 9th and Ayanna who really isn't due until April 23rd but it didn't make sense to take her back out to Middle Grove for less than a month.
The next trip out we will need to bring back Soul due April 11th,  Star due April 12th, Lily due April 17th. Then the next week we will need to bring back Missy due April 19th and Foxy due April 21st, Sheena due April 25th, and Jewel due May 1st but always goes early. We are going to be SWAMPED!
