It was noon before we made it back with Jewel. She was taken right into the barn and given a beauty treatment. Emily is working on her forlock while Rhoda is getting the tangles out of her mane.
She was hosed off, posed for a picture then put away. Isn't she beautiful!
We decided as long as the camera was out we would get some updated pictures of the foals. Of course Lola's colt needed a bath. Now we know why we like black horses. He was so good for his bath.
He is really enjoying the spa treatment, notice his upper lip, he is stretching it out in ecstasy.
The 4 mares with foals were taken to the outdoor arena then the mares turned into the field to graze while the foals stayed inside the arena for pictures.
Below is Lola's colt by Valiant, Mytross' colt by Valiant, Eliza's colt by Raven and Ribbon's filly by Raven.
Look at the size difference in these foals. Ribbon's filly born April 25th, Eliza's colt born May 28th and Mytross' colt born June 30th. They are all big for their age but Ribbon's filly is just HUGE!
Mytross' colt is the youngest boy but there isn't much size difference between him and Lola's colt
Rhoda brought the ball out for the foals. It didn't take long for Lola's colt to make it roll.
Eliza's colt had fun kicking the ball then running after it.
Ribbon's filly had to lick the ball just in case it was good to eat. I think she thinks about eating a lot.
Below Rhoda and Eliza's colt are watching the ball come rolling back to them.
The auction was tonight at the Heart of IL arena on Route 29. Emily, Rhoda and I had a great time bidding and buying. We ended up buying 4 brand new saddle pads, 2 saddles, 50 rolls of vet wrap, probably 30 lead ropes, a bunch of halters, a saddle rack that holds 7 saddles and too much other stuff to remember right now. We haven't unloaded anything yet. Altogether we spent $512.30.
