Winter Prep

Just Diane and I walked this cold morning, Diane was in a winter coat with gloves on and me in a sweat shirt with a wind breaker over that. I didn't think it is cold enough for winter coats yet. Joan called while we were walking and joined over the phone, asking if we would remove the hoses from the outdoor spigot at mom's house. We tried but ended up asking Mark to help with that. We met him coming back with a camper table on the golf cart.

Once he got the table in the house he went to work changing air filters at the barn both upstairs and downstairs.
Since winter really is coming we may as well prepare for it. On the way back to our house we had to take a picture of the men working on Mike's barn. They are getting the metal roof done.
The weather warmed up nicely today and I decided it was the perfect time to work with Dahlia. She was taken out to the round pen for some updated action pictures.

In the picture below all four hooves are off the ground. She has balanced gaits and really has nice movement.

I used the golf cart to take her around the arena, she did so well I took her for a walk around the neighborhood. Mark was working outside so I asked him to drive the golf cart around the outdoor arena so I could video how well she is leading.

She is doing so well. She was given a treat of some carrots before putting her away. This evening we started removing the top from the camper table. This top was peeling away from the table and looked bad.

Mark worked from one side while I worked on the other and we got it done in about 15 minutes. It left a mess on the living room floor as it would shatter and fly off the table as we scrapped.
That was cleaned up just before 6:00 pm which was when I needed to leave to pick up Kensley from volleyball tryouts. She is trying out for the 6th grade national team even though she is only in 5th grade. Kim called as I was driving, she was put on speaker so we could visit. She called to tell me about the sale of her Elgin house and that she will be coming down the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Tim, Allie and Strot are flying in to Peoria on that Wednesday so she offered to pick them up and bring them back to the barn. It will be good to see them again. I worked on the website this evening making a new page then posting updated pictures and some videos. I realized that I had forgotten to post the video of Blueberry giving birth to Roseberry on her page so that was done and I'm sharing it here also. Roseberry was one BIG foal and Blueberry needed help.

I REALLY need updated pictures of her as when I was checking the website the only pictures posted were her newborn pictures. Mike thought he would be keeping her as she will be over 17 hands but decided to keep Shadow instead. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon I can get updated pictures and get some training on her too.
