Zion was out early graining all the horses for me. Ever since her family moved into the apartment I don't have to be out so early in the morning. Sarah sent the pictures below.
Instead of going out to work I cooked Mark one of his favorites for breakfast.
After breakfast I stopped at mom's then left for the Berean office and had driven to the water tower when Skip sent the message that Berean was cancelled as today was a holiday and there was no mail today. I called Shirley L first to ask for help calling everyone. Then instead of going to Berean I went over to the barn to start sweeping and got the gym done and the living area. Dan called to report that Zanes had identified the problem with the wheel chair van and that needed to be taken to Mangold Ford in Eureka. We drove to Zanes, then Mark drove the wheel chair van while I followed with his car and got that there by noon. We stopped at Kroger in Bartonville on the way home to order and pay for the chicken for the cousin dinner on Sunday. Just then Ruth sent a text about mom needing more sunflower seeds so we drove straight to the elevator and picked up a 50 pound bag. By the time we finally got home it was after 2:00 pm. Sarah asked if I would let Millie out. Millie is a brand new mama with 3 adorable puppies. She wasn't quite ready to leave them but I picked her up and took her outside.
She wanted to go straight back inside to take care of her puppies.
These are Cavapoo puppies. I don't know if they are already spoken for but you can check by visiting their website Gardner Lane Puppies by clicking HERE.
While I was out there I moved the 4 weanlings into the middle paddock with Missy then shut the back gate to the pond pasture.
The four buckets were moved over too, all in a row so Zion can easily reach them. The waterer in that last paddock was shut off and the water drained out of it. That one is the first one to freeze so we found it is good to leave that paddock empty if possible.
I finally got the time to start on cleaning the kitchen and got everything done but the floor. That will need to be scrubbed tomorrow, tonight we needed to be in Eureka again! This time it was to attend Jack's Cross Country Banquet at Eureka high school. We skipped supper as we were going to a banquet. We left at 5:10 pm and got there at 6:05 pm. We were supposed to meet Jack at the front of the school at 6:15 pm. He arrived with one of his team mates.
This year Eureka won FIRST at State. There were lots of trophies.
The freshmen team was called up first one at a time and because of Jack's last name he was the last one up.
I'm not sure who the rest of the pictures were from.
They called it the 'banquet' throughout all of the awards but there was no meal. We were in our seats from 6:15 pm until after 8:00 pm, there are a LOT of cross country athletes at Eureka. I think Jack told us there were over 90. We enjoyed listening to all of the stories the coach shared of each athlete. This Eureka team is pretty amazing. The assembly room we were in was packed with the students, parents and grand parents. When the award part was finally over they invited us all to go down to the library for desserts but Jack told us he had already eaten and just wanted to go home so we left and drove him to his house in Goodfield. Then came the excitement. Just before turning left to go on the entrance ramp of I 74 I was pulled over. That was confusing as I was not speeding and had not done anything wrong. The lady policeman came to the window and explained she pulled me over because the little light below the license plate was burned out. Mark couldn't find the insurance card. She waited while he looked. He explained it was a company car and insured but he wasn't very good with on-line and it was too dark to see what he was pulling out of the glove box. She finally just told us to go and in the morning make a copy of the insurance card. We got home after 9:30 pm to find we missed a beautiful evening of the Northern Lights right here in Hanna City. Thankfully Sarah, Nolan, Rachel and others shared pictures. I took one but it was cold, windy and very dark so I'm just sharing theirs here.
Nolan took the picture above coming home from Trivoli while Rachel took the picture below of the lights over the lake.I'm not sure who the rest of the pictures were from.
It is way past my bedtime and Mark has already crashed.
