Saturday Work Day

We started early this morning. Mark and Joan were able to get the tiller on the tractor so Rachel and Joan's gardens could be tilled. Below Joan is tilling Rachel's garden
As soon as she finished the two gardens the tiller was taken off and the log splitter put back on for Gabe and Spark.
We then started on drilling the holes for the solar system. Nolan and Joan helped Mark with that.
Karin and I were also working on them but when Nolan came we left to head back to the barn. Karin wanted to spray the outdoor arena for weeds and I needed to finish cleaning stalls and turn mares out.

Sarah arrived with Zion and was glad to help Karin with driving the golf cart while Karin sprayed. Below is Zion all happy in her stroller.
Missy, Star and Foxy were turned out in the pond pasture. Star and Missy were content to graze together.
These two soon went galloping to the other side of the pond.

Foxy was so nervous about being out in the field with her filly she went running back into the paddock. In the picture below I am across the pond looking toward the barn.
I walked all the way back to bring them across the pond to join the other two mares.

Foxy has lost some weight nursing her filly and worrying so much that the other mares might get close to her that she isn't grazing or eating properly. Hopefully she will soon settle down and pick up weight. Valiant was next. He was turned out into his pasture and had a ball galloping around.

Brandee's mare Lilly was in the pasture next to him. She saw Valiant galloping and started too.
Valiant soon settled down to graze.
When I was looking over to check on the mares in the pond pasture I couldn't help but admire the Redbud tree again.
Below are a couple pictures of Missy and her filly enjoying the grass across the pond.

Below are a couple pictures of Star and her colt also enjoying the pond pasture.

Once the holes for the solar system were finished Mark took the auger off of the skid steer and put on the telescopic jib for the next job which was to pick up the  supporting poles for the solar system. Spark and Joan helped set those.
That went perfect, below Spark and Mark are measuring the distance.

We are now ready for pouring concrete footings.  Karin had a trail ride scheduled to work on clearing the trails after this hard winter.  Nolan rode Anna and carried the chain saw. Karin rode Marika and Anni rode Missy. Anna's colt and Missy's filly also came along. We were thrilled with this ride. Both foals followed perfectly even through the creeks.

On the way back they passed Brandee's mare Lilly grazing in the pasture. She popped her head up to watch as they all galloped home.
Today Anna's colt's owners were coming to see him before we take them out to Middle Grove. While I was waiting for them to arrive Madeira was taken out for a few pictures to update the website. She is due in 11 days.  Madeira is a purebred Andalusian mare in foal to Valiant.

She has a very thick long double sided mane and a very thick tail. This foal will be pretty special.
Patti arrived with her two daughters, her husband and her mother to see Luka, Anna's colt. He was such a good boy and enjoyed all the attention. Below Angie is giving him a good groom.
The entire family admiring this beautiful Friesian colt.
Luka put his head on Angie's shoulder and just loved on her.
Of course they needed to visit the colt's sire Valiant.
Phil arrived to help unload the solar panels. We got one pallet off the trailer before taking it over to Joan's to drop the other pallet.
These pallets are really heavy.
The next job was to take the tiller off and load that in Philip's truck. Below Joan and Faith are working on cleaning it up before moving it.
Below Joan is lifting it with the tractor to place in the bed of the truck. The tiller was rented for the weekend and needs to be returned Monday.
We were busy most of the day but took 45 minutes to eat our lunch at the Warehouse in Hanna City. It felt good to sit down and drink a big glass of ice water with our meals.  By the time the sun was going down all of us were more than ready to quit work for the day. If you would like to see the rest of the pictures from today click HERE but a lot of these are repeats. The weather was perfect today for all this outside work and we were thrilled to get so much accomplished in one day thanks to all the great help.
