Below is an email from Steven Marchal. He went out to the farm to give the mares and foals grazing time. Quite a task, dealing with 4 mares, 4 foals and 3 of the mares are in season.
I wasn't sure if i told you all the exciting things that happened during baby "play time" today so i'm emailing it to you. It was quite eventful and i felt like an overworked nanny. First, ciera chased valliant into the paddock so i had to chase her away and catch him and take him back to jennis. Then Ylse's filly got separated from her mom and tried to attach herself to jennis (luckily jennis didn't do anything), so i had to catch her (not the easiest thing in the open) and take her back to ylse. Then sanna's filly got separated from sanna and tried to attach herself to lily so i had to catch her and take her back to sanna who pretty much the whole time was infatuated with raven and barely noticed she had a foal. And during this whole time Ciera would trot up to all the mares and foals and try to be their friends and of course lily didn't care where ciera was. I am sure if someone was looking in on the event they would have found it quite amusing. So after about 30minutes of this i called it quits and put everyone away. The good news is that when they get moved to the cabin Raven won't distract the mares and the babies can't get too far away. On the bright side Valliant did a really good job tying today. him and ylse's filly were tied for 15minutes and the filly braced herself against the leadline for most of the time but valliant only threw one protest then stood quietly.
