Monday Work

Monday is a working day. I needed to bring over more paper towels and packages of toilet paper for the new barn so loaded up the golf cart and drove that over on the way to the walk. I must have lost a roll of paper towel on the road, Mark picked it up and placed it inside the door. On the way over the frost on the grass was sparkling like diamonds.

We sure were hoping for warmer weather but at least the cold is keeping the flies down. Irish is still in season so after the walk Mike came over to help get her covered by Valiant. He also put a couple boards under Valiant's gate to keep that level when latched and fixed a broken board in Raven's old paddock. Irish and Tatiana were put in the far paddock. Below they are greeting each other.
After a squeal or two they settled down.

They were locked off of the pond pasture. It is supposed to rain tomorrow and we would like to let the grass grow. Lily's paddock was also locked off the pasture. Lily's colt came up to see if I would open the gate.

Missy is in with Cookie, Lily and her colt.
Big Rosalie came up to the gate for attention.
She was taken out and teased. She is starting to show, winked a bit but when I brought Evan up she squealed and kicked out. She is not ready to stand so was put back in with the other Rosaleigh.
Of course they went right over to Valiant.
Valiant needed a new bale today and was give one. Mark put it in while I tied up Valiant then helped with the rope around the hog panel we use for a bale wrap. I left then for Sam's club to pick up more paper towel, a chicken, blue berries and raspberries for mom's house and mushrooms for ours. The food was taken right over to mom's then the other stuff brought here and put away. Then it was time to clean the house.
I was cleaning the kitchen and saw an ant crawling on the counter. A drop of Terro ant poison was put on the window sill.  Mark wanted to take the ping pong table apart so we could put it on 2 of the 8 foot tables for stability. We got it taken apart and have one of the tables upstairs but still need to get the second table up.
We needed to quit as we had to leave at 2:45 pm for the train station in Bloomington/Normal to meet Aunt Jinnie who spend the weekend in Chicago with Peter and Evelyn they took an architectural tour of Chicago on the river then stayed in an airbnb and did their own tour the next day. We got home by 5:30 pm. I checked the drop of Terro and sure enough when we walked in the door the drop of Terro was surrounded with tiny ants. They don't look tiny in the picture but the picture is a close up.
Hope these ants take it back to the nest and they die. I don't like ants in the house. Joan was the speaker at College weekend in Morton on Saturday. Mark and I were able to listened to her talk and even though we knew most of the story I still cried through it. She ended with 5 takeaways. Number 1, God is trustworthy,  Number 2, Asking why is not wrong, Number 3, God does not waste suffering, Number 4, You can't out give God,  and Number 5, It's just for this life.
