Another Mare

Joan needed 3 swords this morning for Co-Op so Diane carried two of them on our walk while I carried the 3rd.

When we got to Joan's house Berlica took the swords while Joan came out to tell us about Nancy's cardiologist appointment. She is going to have an echocardiogram but while waiting for that to get scheduled they took her off one medicine and put her on a different one. Diane and I finished the walk with Mark as he had some tax questions and Diane was the person to answer those. Breakfast today was another omelet. The picture below is of the spinach after I've removed the stems. I don't like the texture of those stems when trying to eat spinach so each one has to have that stem snipped off.
After breakfast since it was still cold outside and inside I built a fire in the woodburner.
Can't believe we are building fires in April but did it ever feel good once it was going strong.
Mike left early this morning for the racetrack down by St. Louis and brought back another Thoroughbred mare. This mare was originally purchased from the breeder for $75,000.00 and was raced but only won $35,000.00. Her owner felt like she would be much happier with us so Mike bought her.
She seems very sensible. While at Middle Grove Mike noticed Sheena is now back in season. He left her out there, we have had too much rain and it is much too muddy here to want to bring more horses home.  Mark needed a little help lifting up the finish mower for the Kubota. He decided to sell it so wanted to clean it up and get it up high enough to check underneath if anyone is interested.
We used the tractor with the bale spear to lift it. While he lifted I put the wood underneath. Once it was cleaned up the pictures below were taken and the ad placed on Facebook Marketplace.

He bought it for the small Kubota then ended up buying the grass hopper mower so we no longer need this. It has been very lightly used and he is willing to sell it for $900.00. New ones are almost $4000.00. This one also comes with a second set of blades. The new horsemeister barn parking sign came. Check out how old this brand new sign looks. That is on purpose.
Hopefully Mark can get it up tomorrow.
When Mike got back he took Lily, her colt and Cookie over to the cabin field as they have guests this weekend.
They were feeding carrots and Lily got greedy, she grabbed a BIG chunk and didn't chew it well and it got stuck in her esophagus and she started choking. I brought her back and put her and her colt in the indoor arena so I could keep an eye on her. She seems to be more comfortable but is still salivating. Horses can't vomit so hopefully this chunk will go down soon.
Tatiana and Cookie were taken over to the cabin field for the guests there while Lily and her colt will spend the night in the indoor.
While there I took a few pictures of her colt for the website.

He is quite a cute chunky colt with lots of personality.
