Cooking Day

It was raining when we got up this morning but stopped in time for our walk. Ruth is back from camping at Montauk State park in Missouri and wanted to catch up on everything and share some of their camping fun with us. Today was a cooking day for me. I needed to cook a meal for Ruth to take to Roanoke, tonight we were bringing supper over to mom's house and tomorrow we have company coming for dinner. I started with making 4 servings of meat loaf cheddar balls. 15 of them were baked today and the other 12 put in the fridge to be cooked tomorrow. I needed to have something to put the food in going to Roanoke so drove to Dollar General and found 5 perfect containers for one dollar each. What a bargain. One container was used for the salad and one for the meat balls, then I found some containers here for the mashed potatoes and gravy. Mark drove those over to Ruth. The next job was to start slicing onions for the liver and onions which were on the menu tonight at mom's. I used 3 large sweet Vandalia onions for that.  About that time I heard knocking on the woodburner window. A bird had come down the chimney and needed to be rescued. Mike sent the picture below taking off his trail camera.

That is his new Thoroughbred mare Holly. He left a breakaway halter on her so we could tell her apart from Blueberry until we get to know her better. They really do look alike.
Dinner was taken over to mom's at 5:00 pm and everyone declared it good. We had mint brownies for dessert.  As we were eating a booking came in for the foaling apartment for TODAY. As soon as supper was over the golf cart was taken over to the apartment, the floor swept and the heat turned on. This booking is for the next 5 days. Berlica and a friend came over to ride Cookie. No pictures I was just too busy working. We have a group at the barn here to play pickle ball. Rachel was the host as she is one of that group. She sent back the picture below.
She reported they all had a great time. We are so glad they were able to come and enjoy the place way out here in the country.
