Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday for Peoria is always most special. This is the day we always have communion. Dave Obergfel had the morning service and did you know that for the Jewish people Palm Sunday was always called Lamb Selection Day. This was the day they selected the lamb for passover. Isn't it amazing that Jesus IS the Lamb that takes away the sin of the world.
Willis had the communion service. Our communion service is so wonderful no one wanted the afternoon to end.
Sarah and Nolan came over right after church to work on their taxes. They moved and slept in their new home for the first time last night. They still need to get their apartment cleaned up and ready for new renters.
I ran up to the barn to check the mares. Lola is due April 14th and is only just starting to bag up so we have some time with her.
Star is looking very round and uncomfortable. She is due in three days.
She still has some folds in her udder that will need to be filled and no waxing at all on her teats.
I've been checking her two times a day but will probably start checking her 3 or 4 times tomorrow.
Ayanna was funny, she was trying to scratch an itch around that big belly of hers.
She is due April 17th but her udder looks fuller than both Star's and Lily's.
The next job was to halter Zephyr, work on leading and tying. He is just now learning how to lead and so far not out of the stall. He is learning when I apply pressure if he takes a step toward me the pressure goes away. His tying lesson today went very well. He learns quickly, yesterday was his first lesson and today he didn't pull back much at all, just went to the end of the rope then stood there resigned. What a smart baby.
Gertie and Dennis called to invite us over for root beer floats at 6:00 pm. Mom, Ruth, Fede, Mark and I enjoyed a fun evening over there. What wonderful fellowship we have with each other. I'm looking forward to foaling season, we have had a nice long break as the last foal born last year was in August. Here on the farm we are starting later this year but will go quite a bit longer in the fall as Oksana is due October 22nd.  We have just Star due in March but 4 mares due in April, 4 due in May, just 1 in June, 3 in July, 3 in Sept and 1 in October.
Our first outside mare of 2016 is coming tomorrow. A nice big Appaloosa mare, I'll try to get some pictures of her to post. Her owner said she is in season right now and is coming for Evan.
