Friday's Fair Fun

We had a wonderful day, fantastic all around. The vaulters were great, the pirates were amazing, the horses were all well behaved.
It started early, both of my daughters decided to give me the gift of sleeping in on Friday and offered to go feed, water and clean stalls. Nolan and Jake went with them. Karin and I enjoyed a nice leisurely breakfast and were joined a bit later by Amy. We decided to leave for the fairgrounds at 8:45 am and arrived before 9:00 to find everything spiffy. And then the fun started. Jessica was in charge of taking all the pictures while I ran the video camera.  Rhoda and Evan's liberty class was first. Rhoda took him into the coliseum, asked him to lay down then removed his halter and he exploded into action.

All the audience were hooting and hollering enjoying his display of athleticism.
Next on the schedule was the vaulting demo in the livestock arena. Not to brag or anything but the vaulters were wonderful! The crowd thought they were very entertaining and gave them a big hand at the end.

This year it was done at the trot. To see the rest of the vaulting pictures click HERE.
Next was Evan in the stallion parade. This was also held in the livestock arena but when Evan entered he wasn't alone. Dee let Zoey come in with him. Zoey is Evan's daughter out of Zalena and is owned by Dee.

Rhoda had Evan gallop around showing off with the reins dropped and her arms spread wide flying around the arena, then took him to the pedestal. She showed all of his gaits, then asked for the bow, laid him down while still under saddle then had him sit.
The crowd really enjoyed that.

We had a break from classes for a few hours so sent the pirates out among the streets and buildings of the horse fair to interact with the spectators. OH MY where do I start. They were so so funny and so entertaining. They were given gold (plastic shiny) coins to hand out with instructions these could be redeemed at the Horsemeister stalls for skittles.

We laughed and laughed at the reaction. David Jacob is the perfect Jack Sparrow, Nolan is the perfect Barbosa and the supporting cast of Jesse, Anni, Karin, Jake, Tyler and Rebekah were fun to watch.

The Pirate Play was suppose to go on at 5:20 pm but we were told we were moved up and to be ready around 5:00 pm. The Friesians went to the outside arena to wait as they were so scary with their pirate flag it was scaring all the other horses in the breed demos. Jessica was able to get some group pictures while they were waiting their turn to perform.

The play went great, the announcer was so shocked to see Jack Sparrow climb into the arena he forgot to start back announcing. The sword fights were fast and furious. Barbosa had the best death scene, Jenis had a straight up rear that held long enough for the crowd to gasp in fright, Elizabeth was given the bottle of rum, took a few swigs and got dizzy on the Big Black Pearl (Ribbon) Jack Sparrow stole the show. At the end the announcer yells, "WAIT, I need to get my picture with you, my daughter won't believe this!"
We didn't wait, we were in a hurry to put the horses away and drive to the hotel for dinner. Amy stayed and was sweeping up the aisle when the boss of the breed and sport demos comes running into the aisle yelling "Friesians, Pirates you were GREAT!" Amy had to explain they had all left. We got to the hotel in time for the free dinner but of course the pirates were still in costume. They mingled with the guests, actually the other hotel guests we asking if they would mind posing for pictures with them. After dinner at the pool poor Jack Sparrow couldn't get out of pictures posing with children and parents alike.
The rest of today's (Friday's) pictures will be posted later, we just stayed up partying too long to even look at them. The hotel has given us a room to eat and play in, the kids were playing card games late, Mike ordered from Steak and Shake for everyone as a treat. WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY!
