Wedding Day for Anni & Matt

We had a cold but sunny start to our morning. The colt made it through the night with us taking turns getting him up every 2 hours.  I thought he was a little stronger this morning but still not able to stand. He nursed very well once he was up all through the night. Karin had a couple trail ride sscheduled today so the mares and foals were turned out and the indoor arena cleaned up before cooking breakfast for Mark and I. We had a family arrive for the weekend for the apartment. This included a birthday girl that turned 12 years old yesterday and was a horse lover.  This family came from Chicago to give their daughter her dream come true birthday wish of spending the weekend with horses.  They saw Marika's colt first.
The reaction of cool to watch of a very happy mother and daughter.
The next part of this gift was from Karin. She gave each a lesson on Missy and Cookie.

The first trail ride left then taking Missy, Cookie, Bunni, Ripper and Sally. Riders were Wren on Bunni, Takoa riding Cookie,
 Kayla riding Missy,
Mike riding Ripper and Karin riding Sally.
While this trail ride was happening. our guests were introduced to the other foals.

Of course another happy hug followed.
Next we hiked over to the playground with the other 2 daughters. We met Joan and Mackenson who were busy stacking wood and found some perfectly hollow logs that will make wonderful drums for Indian camp this year. Mackenson was putting those logs in the back of Joan's car.

From the playground we hiked over to see the cabin. Emma followed us over but sat outside the door waiting. She knows she is not allowed inside.
The first trail ride came back and the second ride included Indy and Oksana. Rebekah was working with Irish, the Gypsy mare so they ponied her along on this ride. This time Diane rode Sally, Takoa stayed on Cookie, Mike stayed on Ripper,
 Faith and Berlica rode
Rebekah rode Indy, Karin rode Oksana and Wren stayed on Bunni. 8 horses went on that trail ride.
When they came back Indy and Oksana were taken to the round pen so our guests could get a lesson on those horses.

If you would like to see the rest of the pictures of their fun morning click HERE. They left for the Hog Trough, the local resturant in Hanna City. We all left for church to attend Anni and Matt's wedding. The wedding was beautiful and very well attended as was the reception. Ruth posted the two pictures below. I didn't take my camera.

Rebekah Martin took care of the colt while we were gone. When we got home I was disappointed to see he is weaker than this morning. I'm watching him on the monitor and since we got home at 6:00 pm I've helped him up 3 times and each time he just nurses for maybe a minute then lays back down. One good thing though is his intestines started working and he is now expelling the meconium. Maybe his appetite will pick back up once that is out.
