Emma Confirmed IN Foal

Mom called this morning to report they made it safely down to Gulf Shores late last night. They had a good trip but longer than usual as they stopped to eat a couple times.
I was thankful this morning, lots of volunteers showed up and lots of Bibles were mailed out. We had such a great crew that worked hard until the lunch break. Edie provided pizza for lunch today, deluxe pizza with lots of fresh vegetables and tasty meats. Along with the pizza came perfectly red ripe strawberries, lettuce salad and for dessert apple pie a la mode! After lunch we still had around 120 Bibles to label and stamp. Everyone jumped right to work and within 20 minutes Mark's van was loaded all the way to the top. Justin went with me to unload. Dr. Hoerr was expected this afternoon to ultrasound Emma for pregnancy and draw blood for the coggins tests on Ribbon's filly, Serenity and Oksana. I made it back in time to help Emily bring the mares and foals in with 15 minutes to spare. Just as Dr. Hoerr arrived a lady named Julie arrived to try out Olivia. Emily helped with Emma's ultrasound then was glad to show Olivia, first round penning her to show the training method used on her then ride her and finally give Julie pointers while she rode Olivia. The showing went well.
We are very pleased to announce Emma was confirmed in foal.
She was bred to Evan and is due August 14th, 2016. Her owner was called to give the good news. She will pick her up next week. Serenity was excellent for Dr. Hoerr.
The naughty horse today was Whitney. Dr. Hoerr came in with the needle and Whitney freaked out, throwing herself sideways. We did not expect that behavior from her. She had to be twitched.
Whitney still needs to be bred to Valiant and should be coming in soon. Her filly is just way too bold. She decided she was going to graze on the other side of the fence last night, at least we think it was Whitney's filly, and tore the electric fence down in three places. We think she got caught in it, started dragging it and scared the other mares until the fence was in shambles. At 2:00 am they were running around the yard. Emily and Jessica woke up to the sound of neighing horses and the thundering of hooves, jumped out of bed then were able to lock them in the back pasture by tying the gate shut. This afternoon Emily had to fix a board on Killian's paddock and restring miles of fence-line. She moved a bale in Raven's old paddock and moved 3 mares in there, the 2 weanlings went in the paddock next to the barn. Jurista and Serenity were moved into the middle paddock along with Whitney, Valerie, Ribbon and Zara.. The pond pasture, which really can't support that many mares, now has WAY too many horses on it as the middle paddock is now open to the pond pasture. Oksana and Rosalie are in the back field which is also overgrazed.  We will have to move mares back to Middle Grove SOON. Mark brought the 2003 truck back tonight not fixed. Jacob is leaving for Gulf Shores and didn't have time to look at it. Tomorrow I'll try to get it in to Butch to get checked out. Meister's is using the big truck so I am truckless for a while. There is never a convenient time to be truckless.
