Confusing Conversation
Yesterday before church we were standing around the foyer visiting when one of the older ladies, Mardell, asked, "You have a new baby coming?" I replied, "not until March, the first ones are due in March." When she asked, "what are you hoping for?" the answer came back immediately, "they better be all black, well either that or spotted." Seeing her shocked face I thought she must not know what spotted means. I was telling her spotted would be either black and white or brown and white. By this time Mardell is really looking confused and finally she asks, "are you talking about an animal?" Poor Mardell, she was asking about a human grand baby, she had heard Ben and Taunya were expecting. I've got to stop assuming baby means foal.
