I'm thankful for Sunday's. The food for tonight was all easy to make so no food preparation was done this morning. We left for church at 9:00 am. Ruth brought mom and Aunt Jinnie and beat us to church today. As Joan is gone Sarah was Nancy's teacher for Sunday school. VBS this year is on putting on the whole armor of God and registration was today. Steven was busy putting the armor on the warrior.
Ruth had to check that armor out.
Annie came to help.
Kathy helped out by holding Harvey.
Nancy was glad to go and Sarah is glad to have her in the 3 year old class. Caleb Plattner had the morning message on the covenant with Abraham. Click HERE to watch that. Molly and Gabe served lunch today. Tim Roecker had the afternoon message on Leviticus 1 and 1st Corinthians 1. Click HERE to listen to that message. After church I got a message from the guests that booked from April 24th to May 7th. As they wanted to stay so many nights they asked if I would give them a special rate. I agreed and gave the apartment to them for $100.00 a night. Today after church they sent a note that they had to leave and cancelled the rest of the nights. They get a refund for all of the unused days and I lost out because I dropped the price. I found out too late that this is a new scam for airbnb hosts. The guests ask for a discount stating they need to stay for 10 days or maybe even 2 weeks then leave after 2 nights. They end up only paying for those 2 nights the discount rate. There is nothing the host can do to recoup the money lost and as those other nights have been blocked off the host loses any other guests that would have paid the full price. Well I learned a good lesson and hopefully never again will I fall for that scam. I tried calling airbnb explaining this was not fair to me as the host but they would not help at all. Airbnb is not host friendly. Crazy as they couldn't have this business if it wasn't for hosts! We didn't have a large crowd for dinner tonight as 2 full families were missing and a few of the other 3 families were missing. We had just finished dinner and were going to start on our dessert when Kiesha and 3 carloads of her family arrived to check out the barn. They have booked the barn for the last Saturday in May for a graduation party and kind of a family reunion. One of the girls brought her pet with her.
It really was a real live bird in that back pack.
I've never seen this before. While I was talking with the families Sarah took the kids over to the barn, saddled Cookie and gave the kids pony rides. Lee took the pictures below.
After those 3 carloads of people left Anna helped get the dishes cleaned up and the food put away. The weather was so nice that volley ball was played outside this evening.
The kids had fun on the playground.
Taegan gave golf cart rides.
The kids that went on the golf cart ride found beautiful flowers to pick and bring back for the moms.
We stayed out at the playground until the sun disappeared and the temperature started to fall. Tonight Mark and I have a guest spending the night with us. We have one of Sarah and Nolan's guardian dogs for the night as tomorrow morning she has an appointment to be spayed at Malabar Vet clinic out near Trivoli. As we live just 15 minutes away it is an easy job for me to take her. She doesn't have to be there until 8:30 am so I can walk until 8:15 and still get her to the vet in time.
