Blessed Blessed Easter

Easter Sunday, such a special day for every believer. I was up at 4:45 am and got the coffee maker going early and enjoyed a good hot cup of coffee before doing anything else. Blueberry still had plenty of hay but both of her water buckets needed to be refilled. Mark did that when he went up to feed the cat. I did not clean her stall this morning as we needed to leave by 7:00 am. We arrived at the fellowship hall before the 7:30 am start time and asked Tom Rieker what table Joan, mom and Nancy should sit at and when he suggested the table at the front Mark went up to save it. Joan arrived pretty quickly after, her family took that table while Mark and I sat with Patty and Chris Kummer, Loretta, Serena and the twins. The breakfast was served up hot and delicious. The tables were taken down after breakfast and the fellowship hall was set up for the service in record time. Everyone knows just what to do. By the time the service was ready to start it, it looked like it was standing room only.

We sang 3 songs and Nancy knew the words to Because He Lives and sang out very loudly and off key. We just had to chuckle, she sure makes a joyful noise joyfully!  Joan's family were the first group to sing.

They finished, the fellowship hall was very quiet as they walked toward their chairs until Nancy very loudly exclaims, "I LIKED that one!"  That brought the laughter, lots of laughter. The next group was Jacob, Chase, Brennon and Dave. They sang two songs.

Caleb Roecker had the message on the silent days between the crucifixion and the resurrection. After the service we sang Hallelujah and then were dismissed so we could get to church on time. It was pouring down rain when it was time to get into the cars. We brought an umbrella but it was in the car all the way on the other side of the parking lot.  Mom said she wouldn't melt so was taken quickly to the van. At church David had the Easter message and my what a message. Click HERE to watch that. No one was in a hurry to head home, the church was full of joyful families. We are so blessed to serve a RISEN Savior. When we got home the ham was put in the oven well wrapped for 3 and a half hours. The green beans were taken out of the freezer but not started yet. Instead the fruit was taken over to the barn along with the cake and brownies. We were expecting around 50 people for dinner tonight so I made a huge fruit platter full of apples, oranges, pears, bananas, grapes and strawberries.
I also washed and sliced 3 quarts of strawberries and put them on top of the cake that was layered with sweetened whip cream, then more whipped cream on top of the strawberries. It was like a big strawberry short cake and by the end of the feast it was all gone. I'll have to try that dessert for Berean as it went over so well. By the time the cake was in the fridge it was only 2:00 pm so I went out to move Blueberry and her filly to the indoor arena so I could strip her stall.
I wasn't able to finish that job and quit after hauling 5 huge wheel barrow loads of bedding out. Cleaning stalls that have been bedded with straw is the worst to clean but is best for a foal. I went back to the house to glaze the ham, cook the green beans and warm up the rolls. That was taken over by 3:30 pm.  Everyone brought food and when I say we feasted, we really DID!

There was plenty of food for all. After the feasting many went outside to walk. The sun was shining and the day turned warm. There were many groups walking around. We went in to visit with mom and Karin, then when other groups stopped in we went back to the barn. Mom got lots of visitors today. She had Easter lunch at Joan's house with Karin, Nancy and all of Joan's family. They too were all walking and stopped in. The kids were having a ball playing with all those cousins and 2nd cousins. They were taking lots of golf cart rides.
After the sun went down the rain moved in. I came back to the house and grabbed Mark so the golf carts could be put in the garage on the chargers. We had just made it in the house when the thunder started rumbling and the rain started coming down hard. There is a tornado watch in our area for tonight but I am too relaxed and ready for bed to be worried about that. What a blessed blessed day!
