Outside Work

Today was a cloudy, damp and cold day but we still got a lot of outside work done. Miguel arrived just as we were finishing the walk to give the motorhome a good cleaning. That was moved out to the hydrant and even though it was cold he went right to work.

He worked for a couple hours on the outside but got rid of lots of old road grime and dirt. I stopped in at mom's for a bit to visit with Karin before she left. Once Miguel finished the motorhome was taken out into the field to get some pictures now that it is so nice and shiny. We are going to be renting this on RV Share this year.

That was parked next to the barn, plugged in, the slide out let out and the inside given a good cleaning. When that was done Valiant was given a new bale then Lily and her colt let out for the day. Mark was going to use the skid steer to haul the post out to the far field so I asked  him to bring a couple loads of gravel over for the campsite. Below is after the first load.
He brought the second load while I was inside working. Below is the video of him bringing the first load of gravel then hauling the post.
He got Mackenson to come help for the next step. That was to shovel some gravel in the bucket to throw in the hole then go set the post.

The posts are really heavy and the hole is deep. Mike had to use his tractor and auger to drill it as ours is just too small to get the job done.
Lily's stall was prepared for the night. We have rain moving in and it might be more than 2 days worth coming. That meant lots of bedding, lots of hay and of course 2 more fresh water buckets.
We had steak fajitas for supper tonight as that is such an easy meal to prepare and I am tired from all that outside work. Berlica came over to get one of the fancy dresses used for the fairs and also a gold cape. Dennis and Gertie arrived a bit later. Gertie wanted to work on their taxes. Dennis and I talked tractors until I remembered I needed to put Lily and her colt inside before it became pitch dark. It is hard to see the black horses in the dark. The colt didn't want to follow Lily into the barn so I had to catch him first and bring him in. Thankfully he loves scratches and will stand still for those. I was able to loop Lily's lead rope around him then kind of push him from behind. Lily followed closely.
By the time I got back in the house the taxes were almost finished. We had a nice evening together.
