Independence Day

Today we celebrate the birth of our country with family, fun, food and fireworks. It has been this way for years. In our family the tradition has been to camp and this year Middle Grove was chosen. Mark and I did not stay the night. Someone around here has to do the chores and that fell to us this year. As I was checking the paddocks I noticed the electric fence had been torn down and dragged into the field. The gate was wide open and the 8 mares and 8 foals in this pasture could have decided to wander the neighborhood but instead where all exactly where they belonged. The gate was shut while the electric fence was repaired and a new round bale put in that pasture. Killian was taken care of. Right now he is the only horse stalled because of mud but his paddock is drying up fast so he may go out tomorrow. Oksana is still in so was covered this morning by Evan. None of the other mares were teased. Mark worked on the living quarter trailer getting it ready for the big horse camping trip scheduled for the end of this month. Karin came in to work horses then headed over to Rachel's to help on their new dock. They needed more sunning places for Monday Fundays.
They actually built this dock for less than $500.00 from salvaged metal.
Mark and I decided to take the golf cart to Middle Grove so we could have transportation to the lake and back to the campground. The actual plan was to bring home Jurista and Eliza as they need to be here next week for ultrasounds but that didn't happen. By the time we arrived at the lake the floating dock was pretty congested with boats, floats and people. Diane found a huge blow-up raft at a garage sale which was tied up at the floating dock along with tubes, the kayak, the pontoon boat, the jet ski and a canoe.
Miss Molly enjoyed the boat ride as long as mom was on board.
Faith and Hannah took the kayak back to the dock instead of waiting for the pontoon boat.
 Willow and Noel enjoyed tubing
Josiah and Tate were next to go tubing.
 Eden loved the sliding board

The pontoon boat ferried from land to the floating island
the jet ski got a work out today
the kayak was a lot of fun, it goes by pedal power and moves quickly.
Eden and Asher enjoyed the rafts.
The floating island is roomy and comfortable, easily able to hold a whole party of people.
Below is Molly and her youngest daughter Dafna
Mark, mom and I decided to head home late afternoon for the next party Rachel was holding at the Hanna City lake. We got to the playground just as supper was being served. How is that for timing.
After a cook-out volley ball started. Below Jessica is bringing Jordan over for a golf cart ride.
He wasn't happy going on the golf cart without his mom but was content to stay with Studly while his mom played volley ball.

Braelyn and Taegan got to come on a ride on the golf cart.
Everyone left to head to Elmwood for their firework display. Either Mark, mom and I are getting old or we are just plain tired but we three decided not to go. Instead we will enjoy the fireworks from the comfort of our home and you can too by watching the video below sent to me from Howard and is far better than we would have seen in Elmwood.
