Shedding

As we were moseying down the farm lane on our walk this morning we came upon the shed skin of the huge snake Diane saw crossing the road yesterday. Diane was on her golf cart with her grandchildren. Tate got out to move it with his stick but the instead of moving the snake struck out at him causing the girls to scream. Eventually it moved out of the way and then shed his or her skin all in one long piece from the head to the tip of the tail. Joan carried it home to show her girls. Then as we headed over the dam to Rachel's we checked on the redwing blackbird nest woven into the reeds on the dam and 3 of the 4 eggs had hatched. Right after the walk, we started working on removing the grass and weeds from the outdoor arena in hopes to be done by vaulting practice. We didn't make it but Ribbon compensated and did well. note the hair on the vaulter. This mare is moving! Diane was spending the day with her grand children and gave golf cart rides to kids while the vaulters were practicing. That is one overloaded cart. After practice Diane brought over her 4 wheeler, Joan raked for a bit then had Sarah drive the 4 wheeler while Hannah, Joan, and Karin worked on cleaning up the pulled weeds. The skid steer was brought back out to help level up the arena. The dust was flying so thick from the rake and workers we were covered with dust by the time we finished up.
