Productive Day

Grocery shopping was done for mom and our house. Once there were groceries in the house it was time to plan and cook meals. By early afternoon there were 6 meals cooked up. The meatloaf meal was taken over to mom's for dinner and served to Mark. The cheesy chicken casserole will be served tomorrow and the rest  were frozen for later.
Steven arrived to tease and help cover mares. Lily was still in and covered by Valiant. Ayanna is now out but Indy is in and covered by Evan. Then it was time to work with Rosalie. She was brought in the stall where she had her first tying lesson (which she hated). She was kept tied while we groomed her all over (she didn't like that either) by the time we were done she was grudgingly standing quietly.
Below Steven is putting on and taking off her halter.
She and Lily were left in the stall while Killian was brought out to work on his tricks. We didn't take the time to groom him and really should have. If he would have been groomed I would have used the good camera but instead only used the phone. Today when I asked him to lay down, I used no pressure at all. Steven removed his halter and bridle and asked Killian to lay down. Killian is being trained to stay down until asked to get up so today Steven took this training another step. Check out the pictures below. Please overlook the mud. We didn't plan on a photo shoot.

He was such a good boy. After Killian was put away it was time to bring the boys out. Today Steven wanted to try asking them to sit out on a hay bale out in the open. Below is Valiant:

We are very pleased with both of the boy's training. Valiant did so well even when there were mares in season in front of him calling he didn't get up until asked. Evan was just as good and is pictured below.

Once the boys were put away we brought the video camera out to take a short video of Rosalie. That will be uploaded tomorrow if time permits, but I took a couple of still shots of her.

Ella is waxing over and now almost sure she will deliver tonight. This is what it looks like when  a mare is waxing:
Notice the crusty clump of colostrum sticking to her teats. We were a bit late getting home from church, Ella was brought in the stall and I'm heading to the apartment now. Sure hope and pray we have a safe delivery and a healthy foal tonight.
