Made It Home

We pulled in at the farm around 12:30am, the dogs were ecstatic to see us and we were pleasantly surprised. Rhoda and Karin reorganized and redecorated the apartment. It was really hard to force myself outside in the cold for the walk but wonderful to catch up on all the news from home. To show how cold it is, these are a flock of geese walking around on the lake.

As long as the camera cord was out the vacation pictures were downloaded. If you hate to look at other people's vacation pictures just skip this post.
Below we have just entered our cabin and look out the window to see these boxes of food placed on the dock for loading.

and a close-up of the most important box of the trip:

The next picture is of our escort out of the port of Miami again just outside our window.

The camera was put away until we reached the beautiful Island of St. Thomas. Below is the first beach we visited on that island.

Mark and Diane snorkeled in the clear blue-green water then the clouds started moving in, we took off with our rental van for the other side of the island to see a few other beaches before heading back to the ship.
Each night there was a special guest waiting for us after dinner. Below are just 6 of the 8 different arrangements.

The camera was accidentally forgotten when we visited Antigua. The next pictures are of our stop at Tortola.
Mike and Diane left Mark and I at a park while they went to arrange the rental of the jeep. Our first visitor was this rooster.

We found this gorgeous isolated beach to enjoy. Mark is checking out the water with his snorkel equipment just to make sure there are no sharks around before the rest of us enter the water, there must be some reason such a beautiful place is empty.

From there we headed over the mountains to the other side of the island. The views were just magnificent!

As we topped the mountain and was coming down the other side there was a good view of the cruise ships in the port of Tortola.

When we arrived back to return the jeep this donkey was patiently waiting.

There wasn't anyone else around to return the jeep to, the guy that rented it to us told us, "if I'm not here just put the keys on the floor. Below Mike is zipping the sides and back up just in case it rains before the owner shows up.

We decided Tortola was our favorite stop on this trip, the people are honest and friendly and better yet the town was clean!
The next day was our day at sea and then in the evening we had to turn around for the poor lady that was bleeding so bad. Below is the picture of the helicopter as it was coming in towards the boat.

It was very dark and the passengers were warned not to use flash for the pilot's sake. Mark and I went down to our cabin to take the picture below. This was after the patient was loaded and just as it was pulling away.

The next day we didn't arrive in Nassau until 3:00pm which didn't give us much time but off we went anyway. We took the water taxi over to the Atlantis hotel.

The water taxi was over being tossed around so violently as people were loading, the man in charge stopped us from getting on and told us it was not safe we would have to wait for the next boat. At that point Mike decided not to go. Mark, Diane and I felt we came this far we didn't care if we did get sick we were still going. We soon got out of the rough water and the rest of the trip was pleasant. Below is a back view of the hotel. That bridge like structure is actually a suite that can be rented out for $25,000.00. The late Michael Jackson use to rent it out when he visited the island.

Below are a couple of the many sculptures in the hotel.

We were suppose to be back on the boat by 6:30pm but ended up a few minutes late, Mike was looking out his cabin window waiting for us. He got our attention by shining his flashlight at us.

We were up at 6:00am after a very short night, packed and were off the boat by 7:40am. We caught the shuttle to Miami airport, rented a car and took off for the Ft Lauderdale church. Doyle from Bluffton, IN happened to be visiting and had both the morning and afternoon message. That man really knows the scripture, it was wonderful to be with our church family. After church we headed over to Dick and Gladys Haefli's condo and played Apples to Apples.

And the winner was Gladys!

We left at 4:00pm for the airport for our long trip home. What a nice break from winter all thanks to the free airline tickets from last year when we were bumped twice.
