Moving Mares & Foals

This morning Mark worked on moving the logs from the fallen mulberry tree out of Valiant's pasture into the wood shed.
As soon as he finished he offered to go with me to Middle Grove to pick up Galena, Tatiana and their fillies. When we arrived we hiked up the hill but the herd was not in sight which meant a long walk. It was such a nice morning for a walk we didn't mind. We found the herd down by the big lake. Spark's daughter Kari, her husband and their children were all enjoying the pontoon boat on this fine day.
The horses either had been down for a drink or going down for a drink and some were grazing on the steep hill side. One of my jobs today was to take pictures of the foals for their owners. Below is Lola's filly by Valiant.
Soul's colt by Evan had burrs in his forelock. He is turning gray, funny just a month ago we still couldn't find any white hair in his coat but now it is obvious he will turn gray.
Sheena's colt was taking a nap when we first arrived. Sheena is a smart mare, she had mud caked on her back to help keep the flies off.
Lily's filly by Valiant is in front, off to the left just coming up after a drink is Madiera and her colt.
That is Jewel and her colt by Evan on the steep part of the hill.
Tatiana's filly is pictured below looking all regal.
Mark led Galena and I led Tatiana all the way back to the trailer. They loaded without too much trouble.  When we got home the 3 yearlings and Lisa saw them unload and started calling. They were pretty thrilled to see some of their herd mates.
Galena and her filly were taken to the round pen first for some updated pictures. This filly is now 5 months old and will be weaned on Monday IF Galena is confirmed in foal.
This filly is as sweet as she is beautiful. She has really good movement and for sure inherited that Gypsy mega hair.  She is SO very flashy. I can't believe she hasn't sold yet but we will look on the bright side, if we keep her she can be bred to Evan AND we will sure have fun riding that amazing movement!
Next it was Tatiana's filly's turn. She was so funny about the tarp. She was curious about it but when the wind blew it she jumped!

Galena and Tatiana with their fillies were put in the middle paddock with Jenis.
I got to spend the evening with Israel and Elisabet. We had fun playing on the tramp and pretend swimming in the now empty pool. David and Stephanie had potluck tonight.
A very nice  update arrived from the lady who bought Jewel's 2018 filly. She also sent the picture and video clip below.  Maria writes:  Hi Judy just thought I’d send you a photo of Inez or nay nay as we call her at the barn. She’s doing really well and look at her in her beauty! She is super sweet and smart and funny. I love to play with her in the paddock. She really loves people and is so ready and willing to play a game or to learn something new.
Thanks Maria, She looks WAY older than 15 months. She is going to be a big girl!
