The manure fork, mounting block, water buckets and liability sign were loaded into Karin's car by 7:25am and I was on my way to the Old School Center for day 2 of the Spoon River Drive. Karin was bringing the 2 walkers around 10:00am so her stuff was unloaded and put with the saddles then it was time to get the popcorn and cotton candy started. We were expecting sunshine and cool weather a high of around 60 degrees but it just didn't happen. The clouds took over, the wind picked up and it seemed the outside just started spitting at us. I was glad to be inside. Dan took pity on the poor pony handlers and built a fire. Check them out in the picture below, they look like a bunch of homeless people huddled around the warmth.
Karin's vaulting team helped with the pony rides and were busy giving around 90 rides. We were pleased that we had that many customers, the weather sure wasn't co-operating.
We were allowed to shut down our booths at 5:00pm. It took around 20 minutes to get both of the areas we were in cleaned up before I could head home with the horses. We will get to do this all over again next weekend. When downloading the pictures I found the last day pictures of our vacation at Gulf Shores. The sea was angry and the waves were just beautiful as they came crashing to shore.
I can almost hear them as I look at these pictures. Mom got an update on the tropical storm Karin which turned out to be nothing at all. Leon and Eunice Kaisner are staying down there this week and told mom the sun came out today. I'm glad to be home but sure miss the warmth of the sun. It's freezing up here.
