We had a beautiful day for the last day of 2013's Spoon River Drive. Bright sunshine and warm weather brought out the crowds. There was steady traffic in and out of the Old School Center all day and best of all it seemed most people leaving the builder were carrying bags as in shopping bags. I sure hope the vendors did well. Karin got a big surprise this morning. She was letting Missy and Cookie graze on the lush green grass of the Old School Center's yard when Missy realized she was loose and headed home taking Cookie with her. They started trotting down the road, crossed 116 and just kept going. The traffic on 116 during the Spoon River Drive is stop and go anyway but watching 2 horses running down the road brought the cars to a dead stop thankfully. Thank goodness for fast runners and good help, both Missy and Cookie were put to work as soon as Karin had them back, we think that may have even brought more customers to the building, all wanting to meet the run-a-ways!
Eva Jean and Janell came to see what the Spoon River Drive was all about and Janell agreed to man my booth so I could run out and get a few pictures.
Eva Jean told me about church today, the big news was the announcement that Russ Rumbold is repenting. Peoria church is rejoicing for him and his wife Roma.
At 5:00pm the cotton candy machine and popcorn machine were shut down and covered and just left so the ponies could be hauled to Middle Grove. The truck and trailer were taken back to the farm then Mark was good enough to go with me back to the Old School Center with the car to shut down the booth and load up everything. We left it all still in the car, tomorrow will be soon enough to unload and clean everything up. Tonight will be an early night, that bed is going to feel so good.
