Zeke's Party

The horses needed to be fed early this morning, the moon was still out and some pink was showing when I returned to the house.

Tessa and Indy's colt were glad for breakfast. The plan was to take them outside today after church and have all 3 of the weanlings in the same paddock. Once back at the house the peppers were chopped for the dinner tonight.
We left for church early so we could stop at a gas station and fill up the car. This morning was the business meeting so Tim Funk had a short service then we went right into the meeting which lasted quite long. The lunch hour was shortened a bit but we all got the chance to eat. Bill and Joan served lunch. All of their kids came to help. Gregg Rumbold had the afternoon message. After church it was time to bring out the weanlings. Tessa was brought first, she led very well and was put in with Valerie. Then came Indy's colt. Hindsight I should have just let him follow Tessa but I thought it would be good for him to be led. He exploded out of the door didn't wait for me to open the gate and jumped into the paddock cleaning the top rail with his front hooves but smashing into and breaking the top rail with his back. Thankfully he didn't get hurt.  Below he is meeting Valerie.
He wanted to check out the paddock but didn't want to leave the other two.
Valerie and Tessa were eating their grain out of the same bucket but the colt was more interested in staying close. Hopefully they will teach him grain is good.
The older two were willing to let him alone as long as he wasn't trying to eat their grain. He checked out the paddock while waiting for them to finish.

I went back into the house to start cooking the supper for tonight. Supper was good but from now on I'll need to up the hamburger from 6 pounds to 8 pounds if we want any left overs. We barely had enough.

Tonight we celebrated Zeke's first birthday. He actually turns a year old on the Jan 18th but since we were all together Zeke got to eat his first cupcake.
Everyone enjoyed the cake and icecream.

Zeke got a bus for his birthday.
The older kids played uno then went to the barn to play soccer and ride scooters. Mark and Lee supervised out there. Phil, Nolan and Rhoda went to play volley ball at the gym in Hanna City while the rest of us enjoyed visiting while watching the younger children. Everyone left by 8:15 pm. Mark is already in bed and I will be following just as soon as I hit that publish button. Another blessed Sunday.
