Our Guests

We  had a couple stay in the apartment and they brought with them 2 horse crazy girls. Of course we had to put them right to work. Below they are feeding Lisa.
Their next job was to feed the weanlings. From there we went to the outdoor arena where Kayla and Karin were working with Galena and Valiant.
It was very foggy this morning.
Kayla is teaching one of the guests how to lead Galena while the other gets to ride Galena.
Karin and Kayla were willing to give the girls a riding lesson on Valiant and Galena.  Who would ever thought a few years ago we would be using Valiant for pony rides and lessons!

We told the girls about the dress-up dresses in the apartment closet and told them if they found something fancy to wear we would take pictures of them on the horses. They each found something for the next few pictures.

Karin asked Valiant to lay down for this picture.
Below is Bailey's reaction to that!
Today we planned on washing and braiding up Valiant and Galena's manes and tails. The guests were more than happy to help with this big job.

Instead of putting in one big braid then stuffing that in a tail bag we put in lots of little braids on both horses and decided against tail bags. We will see how this holds up.
We have to admit, those tails look pretty funny.
After the horses were put away, Karin, Kayla and I went to the Warehouse in Hanna City for lunch. Our guests went in to Peoria for shopping and lunch and came back with a thumb drive so the pictures today could be put on that. This way they can print out what they want and have the rest as a special memory of the time they stayed in a barn. Later we pulled out Anna so both girls could learn to trot a bit.  Anna has the smoothest trot of any of the Friesians and tries hard to please.

Both girls got a chance to sit her trot.  Today was the very first time either of the girls had ever ridden so they were pretty thrilled with their experiences today.  If you would like to see the rest of the riding pictures taken today click HERE. Mark graded the drives this morning then put the wood splitter back on the tractor and today we got almost all of the pile of logs split.
Mark still has some over at Joan's to split but once those are done we should be done for the year.  We spent most of the day outside and both of us are chilled.  I heated up some of that creamy chicken and wild rice soup for dinner and we will soon hit the sack. We know about the time change but at our age if we want to go to bed early we GET to go to bed early.  I was thankful for Karin's help today and very thankful for everything that got done.
