It was hard to get up this morning but knowing the coffee was done was a good incentive. I was going to use today as a day of rest but that didn't turn out exactly as planned. We all walked this morning together for the first time in 3 weeks, although Diane had to quit by 7:55 am, Joan needed to be home early so Ruth and I went in to visit with mom for the last part. After breakfast I went to the barn to start the clean up while Mark worked on the porch he is adding to the foaling apartment. I had almost finished the main floor when I got a message from Jamie about meeting for lunch at the 50 50 restaurant. I had never heard of that but it really is a good find and I HIGHLY recommend it. It is run by a Mexican family. They offer breakfast all day and had a good variety of other foods. One in our group ordered eggs Benedict and they looked and according to the person that ordered them they were delicious. Another ordered their original French toast and that was also amazing. I ordered a Gyro panina. That came with a generous order of fries. I ate half of the sandwich and saved most of the fries for Mark. The 3 ladies that met us at the restaurant wanted to check out the barn for an end of life celebration so followed me to the barn after lunch. They checked it over well and would like to have the celebration here at the end of May 2025. Next that visited the foaling apartment and asked to book that too as a lot of the guests coming are coming from out of town. When they walked out of the apartment they were met by Valerie and Thalia who were hanging their heads over the gate for attention.

Building
Oh how they love people. Next they wanted to meet Evan. He watched their car come in so was standing at the gate waiting his turn.
When they left I went down to the house to give Mark the food. I sat down at the computer, got on the new website to start making changes, called Dan and he explained what I should do for that,. I had just gotten started when Mark asked for my help with the porch.
It really did take both of us, the tractor, the skid steer, two ladders and one mounting block to get that job done. Below he is attaching a a side to the front while I'm holding the bracing board. The tractor is holding up the side.
We were glad for the tractor. The porch is 8 foot tall in the back and front is 9 inches shorter.
We needed the skid steer to hold up the other side.
When we were working on the last side we were both up on ladders and I noticed Valerie watching.
Thalia wondered why Valerie wasn't coming to eat with her and she came also to watch. They both stayed there curious until I walked away.
I still needed to go to Sam's club to pick up coffee for Karin and pecans for us. I was supposed to make a pumpkin dump cake today for the Berean office tomorrow except when I got the ingredients out the pecans were gone. The bag was there but just had a few crumbs in the bottom. By the time I finally got to Sams it was getting dark and much to late to be baking so I bought a pumpkin crumb cake. Hope the Berean volunteers enjoy that. As soon as I got home I heated up potato soup for our dinner then went back to work on the website, finished with what I want changed and emailed that to Dan and Gaetano. Now I can rest!
