Productive Day

We were both up early. No walk today, Ruth still isn't feeling well. Right after breakfast I went to the barn to bring back all the left overs from yesterday and do a little clean up. Those kids sure did enjoy the new bouncy house. Mark was working on framing a couple more cement pads. He wants to put a grill on each of them.

At 9:00 am I took the Bible studies the single group graded on Saturday to the Hanna City post office for mailing. Once home it was time to make 2 pecan pies for Berean tomorrow. While those were baking the rotisserie chicken picked up at Sam's club on Friday was deboned and made into chicken salad. When the pies were out cooling I left for Middle Grove. I needed to check on Madiera to make sure she didn't get mastitis since we weaned her colt on Saturday. She was fine, but Mike and Hunter were out working on the fence and called just as I arrived that there was a horse with a cut on her leg. I parked the can next to Mike's truck and hiked in.
Below Hunter is standing next to the mare with the cut. That turned out to be Valerie. It is not infected, not too deep and she is not lame on it so I did not go back to get the horse trailer. Tomorrow I'll bring out some wonder dust to treat it just so she doesn't get proud flesh as it heals. While there I wanted to get updated pictures of Titus as he is for sale. Below is my favorite of the day.
It shows his mega tail and mane. He is very friendly and loves belly rubs. When I stopped scratching his belly to go get other pictures he followed me around begging for more. He finally decided to lay down and roll.
Thalia was following Mike and Hunter around so close they couldn't get their work done.

These Friesian horses really are like Golden Retrievers. They just crave attention from humans. I also needed to get some pictures of Mike's Thoroughbreds for identification. Holly has a white sock on a back leg. Aichen has a small star on her forehead and two white back hooves. Aichen was bred to Valiant and is due May 17th, 2025
Bulu has a small star and a stripe ending at her nose. Bulu was bred to Valiant and is due July 5th, 2025

Holly has a big star with a strip ending with a big snip.
Blueberry has a big star, was bred to Valiant and is due April 16th, 2025
Sheena we know well as he has had her for years. Sheena was bred to Evan this year and is due April 30th, 2025.  It was interesting that the 3 grays were off by them selves lounging in the shade.
The wandered off to graze but stayed together when the Friesian mares took over the shade trees.
If interested in looking at the pictures from out at Middle Grove click HERE but I warn you there are over 80 as I was trying to get enough for the new website. I left for home after spending an hour checking out each mare and giving each horse some individual attention.
At home we still needed to unload the hay trailer. Mark brought in a couple of pallets, I backed the trailer into the barn and we went to work.
Below Mark has just thrown the last one up.
We were thrilled to have the hay.  Joan's daughter Sarah picked it up from Gary Unsicker's barn, they used it first for the church picnic a couple weeks ago then the singles group that came this weekend, then Tim and Debby used it yesterday for their family picnic. We use square bales at foaling time so these will come in real handy starting in March. Our first mare due is
Tatiana who was bred to Valiant and is due March 14th, 2025
Rosalie is next, she was bred to Evan and is due April 10th, 2025
Blueberry was bred to Valiant and is due April 16th, 2025
Rosaleigh was bred to Evan and is due April 23rd, 2025
Sheena was bred to Evan and is due April 30th, 2025
Lily was bred to Valiant and is due May 2nd, 2025
Dancer was bred to Pablo's Friesian stallion Mafia and is due May 5th, 2025
Aichen was bred to Valiant and is due May 17th, 2025
Bulu was bred to Valiant and is due July 5th, 2025
Jury was bred to Evan and is due Aug 15th, 2025
Jewel was bred to Evan and is due Sept 8th, 2025
Madiera was bred to Valiant and is due Sept 15th, 2025
Leah was bred to Valiant and is due Sept 27th, 2025
We are both tired from the physical labor of unloading and stacking hay but it is a good tired. We shall sleep well tonight.
