Jousting Demo

Not all the plans I had for the day got accomplished but there just wasn't enough hours in this day that started at 4:30 am.  Mark wanted an omelet and blueberry pancakes for breakfast. The 6 weanlings in the stalls all wanted to be fed and watered. Joan couldn't go on the walk as today was co-op. We made arrangements for Heather, Ellie and Joey to come here at 1:30 pm to help get the horses ready for the jousting demo.  The first job today was to get Jewel's colt and Madiera's colt out in the paddock with Galena's filly and Rosaleigh's filly. They both led pretty well and I was pleased except by the time I dumped their water bucket, they had knocked down a board and had gotten in with Isla and Ivan.  I just left them and took Lola's filly out to the round pen for some updated pictures for her owner.

Next was Sheena's colt to get updated pictures for the website.

Both led pretty well and both were put in with Galena's filly and Rosaleigh's filly except by this time they were in where Isla and Ivan had been and those two were in the weanling paddock.  They had destroyed another board. I pulled one over and since I didn't have any tools used baling twine to tie the board back in place then moved everyone back where they belonged. Those two stalls were stripped then Lily's filly and Soul's colt were moved into a stall with a camera so they could be watched and their stall cleaned. By this time it was past time for lunch and soup sounded good as I was chilled. The heater was turned on and I almost fell asleep for the 20 minutes allotted for lunch. I went out at 1:00 pm to start taking down the jousting line from the outdoor arena, cleaning the trailer and packing everything needed for the jousting demo. When Heather, Joey and Ellie arrived we quickly got the horses cleaned up, tacked up and loaded up.  Mom drove Sarah and Hannah in her car and I drove the rest in the truck.  The jousting went well.

After the demo all the students got a chance to ride Jenis or Oksana. If you would like to see the rest of the pictures click HERE
I got home just before Mark, got supper made  and eaten then we left for Big R and Aldi where 12 bags of grain were purchased along with a 40 pound bag of cat food and $80.00 worth of groceries and 2, 40 pound bags of water softening salt, and it ALL fit in my little Prius. The grain and cat food were unloaded first then the groceries.  Philip arrived to work on the dryer and was able to get it fixed.  Perfect timing as we have guests moving in tomorrow.
