Our Airbnb guests in the apartment were in no hurry to leave and we have another guest coming. These guests were not at all like I expected. I saw them the first day and tried to say hello but as soon as the husband saw me, he went inside and shut the door. I thought they must be busy. The second time I saw the husband come out we were loading horses. I waved and kind of yelled, "hello, I'm Judy," but he went right back inside. I told Mark they must want privacy. Mark said he saw them but they never made eye contact. So each morning we were very quiet feeding the horses and taking the long way around the back of the barn to feed the cat. The husband told me when he booked it that his wife was allergic to cats and wanted to make sure there would not be a cat around. I assured him that our cat was a barn cat and they would probably only see her from a distance out hunting. The tomato plants were watered. early. All 3 plants are doing well.
We had to fix fence today as Mike was bringing 4 of the riding horses home. We were trying very hard not to make noise while working.Day to day operation of a Friesian breeding farm standing 2 Friesian stallions. My First Bad Review
Mark had to use the chain saw to cut down some saplings but by this time it was after 10:00 am. We finished the fence and only one time did I see someone looking out the window but as soon as they saw me looking up at the apartment he or she turned away. I never did meet the winfe. Once the fencing was done I went to the cabin field to bring Bulu and her colt over.
The colt started out walking well but all of a sudden he decided he didn't want to go and started dragging the golf cart backward then sideways. I was at the main drive struggling with him when David S and a friend came by on their golf cart. I told them you would probably want to go a different way as the colt was fighting every step of the way. I finally got him up to the paddock but he sure didn't want to go in. He broke one lead rope but never got away. I was able to tie him to a breeding stand then got a bucket with grain in it. Once he saw that he and Bulu followed me right into the paddock. Only then did I find out from Mike that this colt had not been trained to lead. Braelyn and Anna arrived to clean the apartment right about the time the guests left and that was around 11:30 am. I went inside with them and saw that they had put something on the futon comforter and that left a brown stain that looked like grease, so that was taken down to the house to pretreat then wash. Mark and I left at 2:30 pm to drive to Middle Grove to pick up the camper. Mike and Berlica had just finished riding Sally and Jewel. They said both horses were perfect. They were tied to the stock trailer while Mike and Berlica went to get Rosalie and Dancer. Joan helped get the camper hooked up. We took it straight to the new barn to empty the tanks.
Once the tanks were empty we drove it over to Joan's house. I was asked to leave a review for our guests. I gave them 5 stars and wrote they were very quiet guests (since we never got to talk to them).
Later tonight they left a terrible 2 star review for staying here. They wrote in their review that the horses were so bored, they craved human companionship. They complained that this was supposed to be a working horse farm and they never saw us do any work. They also said they had 50 bugs flying around hitting them. I found 4 dead stink bugs so I think that might have been a slight exaggeration. They contacted me yesterday that the internet went out but within a minute sent me another message saying never mind it is back on. I told them it happens. They wrote that in the review that I told them that happens some time. The internet went out once for a few minutes the entire 3 days they were here so I wouldn't think that would be an issue for a review but for this couple it was. They also left me a long private message on how awful we were for not introducing them to the horses. Oh well, we completely misunderstood their reason for booking and thought we were giving them the privacy they wanted. Funny how we were SO wrong. All these years of hosting airbnb guests and this is my very first bad review. As I was writing this the foaling apartment booked again. They probably didn't read this latest review.
