Thankful for the Rain

We had heavy rain during the night. It was pounding on the windows. Ruth was really thankful for this rain, their well was just not keeping up. We have been so dry this fall that we also are thankful. The good news is that more rain is in the forecast. It was just misting when it was time for our walk. This morning the corned beef needed to be cooked as it was taken out of the freezer on Wednesday. That was boiled for 2.5 hours before adding the potatoes and carrots then the cabbage was added at 12:30 and boiled with the rest for 20 minutes.  Once the corned beef was boiling I turned on AC Central and just happened to listen to a talk given July 10th, 2010 in Taylor, MO by Jeff Waibel. It was so good that it was down loaded so I could listen to it again.   All of the cooking was done by 12:50 pm which gave me just enough time to dish out some for mom's house then get the beef sliced and put in the fridge. Anna was just finishing up at mom's when I got there. Mom hadn't had lunch yet so enjoyed the corned beef and cabbage, carrot and potato meal. For dinner tonight Karin and I ate left over chicken pot pie but mom wanted an egg and toast. By the time I left mom's it was pitch dark and still misting. It rained on and off most of the day. The barn drives are a little muddy but the other drives are holding fine. Ruth posted a picture of one of the pups. Their ears are starting to stand up.  I think she still has 3 puppies left, 2 males and 1 female.

The the state of this country and the thefts happening all over Peoria perhaps a German Shepherd is exactly what is needed. They are loyal and SMART.
