Assassination Attempt

 Mom was busy filling the bird feeder when I arrived this morning. She likes to keep that full and as long as we are there guarding the feeder we see lots of birds. 

When we go back inside a cheeky squirrel arrives, scares the birds away and makes a pig of himself. Ruth said when she was there the feeder was empty and that squirrel came to the door and chewed her out flicking his tail and chattering, "how dare you let that feeder get empty."  Mom and I had a beautiful morning out on her deck watching the geese take baths in the lake.  I had to chuckle when mom said, "of course they are taking baths it IS Saturday. 

Growing up on the farm we all had to take a bath on Saturday whether we needed it or not and yes we had to share bath water.  We only had one bathtub in that big old farm house but later Dad and Mom did a remodel and put another tub and shower in their bedroom AND we had the basement shower which as kids we didn't like to use. The shower room was a large open room with old cement laundry tubs on one wall and windows above. We were sure John the ghost lived down there as we would hear the pipes groaning in the walls when the shower was turned on. While sitting out there texts started coming through with pictures. These were actually sent yesterday but we must have been out of range when in Normal, IL as my phone didn't let any of them arrive until this morning. The first is a picture taken yesterday of mom arranging flowers for her table.

Then Diane sent the picture below of the new campsite at Middle Grove.

She put a picnic table up there under a nice tree with a beautiful view of the lake. Ruth and Fedi stayed there last weekend and loved it. Diane arrived after lunch and was telling us about her new guests coming into the cabin today. That meant Mike had to take Titus, Blueberry and Mika back to the cabin field as they have advertised horses.  When Karin arrived back I left but had to stop to take a picture of the barn parking lot. We have a wedding going on today and it was well attended.

We noticed they had one of the big garage doors opened for at least a half an hour and the gym temperature rose from 72 degrees to 74 but once the door was shut it recovered pretty quickly back to 72. Mark's phone has the way to see the thermostat and raise or lower the temperature. Around 5:45 pm a text came in from Rachel about an assassination attempt on President Trump. We are all shocked. 

We heard later one bystander was shot in the head and killed instantly, another lady shot and taken to the hospital and the shooter was killed.
