Bean Soup

After a good nights sleep it was time to make Mark breakfast for the first time in 8 days. Since we had plenty of left over ham he got a ham and cheese omelet and fried potatoes also left over from yesterday. I didn't think to take the picture until more than half was eaten.

We were both ready to start work this morning but first we both went on the walk. We were stopped by traffic at the dumpster Rhonda was coming up the hill then pulled over to answer her phone and then Spark stopped to visit a bit. Rhonda's mom is in the hospital with pneumonia and the family is trying to keep someone with her at all times. Rhonda was on her way up today. We had a storm come through last night but it wasn't raining by the walk time although the rain started back up later this morning dropping another half an inch. Right after the walk the ham bone was set to boil in my biggest pot.
Then off to work I went getting the barn cleaned up and ready for the next guests coming in on Thursday and once that was done went to the apartment. Both were finished by 11:00 am and I was back in the house when the rain started.  I noticed Tatiana was up teasing Valiant and watched a bit to see if Lily was still in. She looked like she was but the rain was starting so I decided to wait until this afternoon.
The meat was falling off the bones so that was taken out to cool. The vegetables for the soup were chopped up and added to the boiling water while the meat was cooling. After the meat was cool enough to chop that was added back into the water along with the kidney beans, northern white beans, black beans and red beans and the soup left to simmer.
The rain slowed down to a drizzle so Tatiana was brought up first and covered by Valiant. Then Lily was brought up and she showed but when Evan came up she kicked at him. She usually stands well so I think she was going out this morning. I only got one cover on her but if she doesn't conceive I'll try on her next cycle. Her colt is doing well. The soup was put in quart containers and 2 cool whip containers which were taken over to mom's at 3:40 pm just in time for tea time. Karin was told it was NOT cool whip but ham and bean soup. Just then Diane walked in and she told us she also had a pan of ham and bean soup on the stove. Rachel walked in not 2 minutes later and yep, she had a pot of ham and bean soup on her stove. When Joan arrived at 4:00 pm she admitted she also had a pot of ham and bean soup going. Our walk tomorrow may be a little musical. Guess we all had ham for Easter dinner yesterday. We had spaghetti for supper tonight.  Left over spaghetti I had frozen earlier. Mark pulled it out of the freezer while I was gone and it was still partly frozen. All of the laundry got done today plus all of the dishes and the stove cleaned up. I'm ready to quit for the day but just had one more load to take out of the dryer and could hear the rain pounding down again. Glad we are inside and dry.  Phil and Anna made it to Gulf Shores at 4:30 am and when I talked to Anna they were on the beach with beautiful sunny weather.  Phil sent the picture below with the words, "camping isn't so bad here."
Glad they made it there safe and sound and really happy they have such a nice place to camp.
