Pot Hole Repair

It was a cold walk today, the morning started out at 27 degrees and by walk time was up to 32. Lots of frosty grass. Lola and Soul were let out into the big field straight from their stalls.

Still no sign of waxing with Lola but Soul is now starting to bag up. She is due the 28th, same day as Jury. Jury is not bagged up at all. After their stalls were cleaned and made ready for them tonight I took the camera out to take a few pictures. The mares saw me coming and all of them made their way from the field to the paddock. Irish and her colt were the first to come running.
Followed by Rosalie and her filly.
Lily and her filly were the last to come in. Below is Lily's filly catching up with her mama.
The wind was making the sunny cold morning really cold so Lily took her filly right into the shelter away from the wind so she could nurse her in comfort.
I really like the picture above it shows how Lily's feather is thick and long. The other two mares were content to just rest in the sunshine.
Irish's colt has discovered the salt block and was enjoying that.
I took a few pictures of Lily's filly for the website once she finished nursing.

She is a stocky filly and has wonderful compact conformation. She will surly have lots of hair AND should end up around 17 hands when full grown.
Rosalie's filly has now discovered grain and was making a pig of herself. Poor Rosalie looked back as if to ask,  "can you make her share?"

Below Rosalie's filly was staring at Lola and Soul who was in the field behind the
 paddock.
The two yearlings were also enjoying the sunshine. They came off the field to lay in the sun.
Mark came home around 1:30 pm as today was the day he wanted to start working on the driveway. Below he is bringing gas for the compactor.
This winter was hard on the drive and we had lots of big pot holes. He had Makenson running the compactor while Bryce shoved in the gravel.

They went right to work.
Reece and his sisters helped me load the small Kubota up with the rocks that had been edging the yard. We are moving those to the lower part of the driveway to make it easier for the mowers.
When they finished the pot hole work Mark brought the skid steer over for the rocks as that bucket is so much bigger.
After that job was finished they used the rest of the rocks to line the edge of the driveway down by the road.
Below was the last job of the afternoon, to get those big chunks of concrete into the skid steer bucket so Mark could move them where they were needed.
Karin and Jackie came around 3:00 pm and played games with mom, I joined them around 4:30 and Amy came shortly after that. We enjoyed a good visit until it was time to start dinner. We are all going to be tired tonight.
