New Pastures

 I was out feeding this morning just as the sun was breaking over the tree tops. Lily, Rosalie and Irish were all standing patiently waiting for grain in their buckets. Rosalie and her mama Lily look so much alike from this angle with the fence board hiding Lily's big stomach from her colic surgery years ago. 

Iris and her colt are far left, Lily and her filly are in the middle and Rosalie and her filly are right. They were fed and the grain bucket put away. The redbud tree was just starting to catch the morning sun and was practically glowing.

This tree gets more beautiful each year. A special thanks to Marilyn for planting it. We had a good walk then after the walk I went to work putting up electric fence so the mares could have new pasture. This is just temporary but works and they love the freedom. The next job was to start moving bales. The middle paddock needed 2 bales and the short shelter needed a bale. The horses had to be shuffled around to do that job which was finally finished around 12:30 pm, just in time for lunch. Lola is now overdue but still no sign of waxing. Her udder is getting pretty swollen which means she is progressing. After supper the mares needed to be called in and locked in for the night. They were no where in sight and the golf cart is out of commission until the tire gets put back on so that was a long walk to find them. I made it back in time to get ready for church. Tonight Craig Stickling had the message on Isaiah 12 and Romans 9. We visited quite a bit after church and didn't get home until 9:10 pm. As soon as we dropped off mom we checked on Lola, she was laying down but got up pretty quick. I went in to change then took her and Soul to the stall barn for the night. She is on the monitor but more than likely could have been left outside, she still has no waxing but this way I can sleep well knowing she is inside nd safe.
