Corruption

I left right after breakfast for the Pekin drivers license facility to get the title of the new (20 year old) trailer transferred into my name. I chose Pekin because Peoria usually has long lines. There was a line of 8 people ahead of me and I thought that was acceptable except the wait was still well over an hour. Crazy how long everything took. It wasn't that they didn't have the staff, there were 5 people working. In Pekin they spend more time visiting.  The bill to transfer the title was $170.00 and the license sticker is only good until December then must be renewed.  The state of Illinois is running a racket. What corruption would cause fee's that high? Just this morning in today's headlines this was posted: By ABC 7 Chicago Digital Team "Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan is linked to a bribery scandal involving ComEd".
 I don't really think that is what is causing Illinois to have such high vehicle sticker fees but I know to renew the sticker on my little 2 horse trailer went from $18.00 to$118.00. The big horse trailers were much more.
When I got home the kids all helped unload the vacation supplies purchased yesterday. They have been good helpers. Below Abe is dragging in 3 hundred cups.

 We now have plenty of napkins, paper towel, toilet paper, 800 cups, 800 paper plates, 300 bowls, 750 spoons, 600 forks and 500 knives to make it through the week of the Sceggel vacation. There are 24 of us times 21 meals with lots of thirsty children needing drinks and snacks for that week and we like to make meal clean up easy. BTW we really didn't need 800 paper plates but 200 were nice and thick for the main meals while the other 600 all came in the same package and are the cheap flimsy ones. Those can be used for desserts and snacks. 

Once the car was unloaded, I changed from public clothes to barn clothes (switched the skirt for shorts) and went out to move bales. Addyson kept the kids on the golf cart so they would be safe and helped open and shut gates. The middle paddock got 2 bales and Ribbon's old paddock got 1. The horses were turned out into the field while that was happening. As soon as we finished Mark needed help getting the mower off the tractor and putting on the grader so he could work on the driveways. That 5 inch rain did quite a lot of damage on the steep driveway and caused some erosion on the rest. Ruth took mom for her CT scan. She will have the results on Monday or Tuesday.
Joan took the big van to Middle Grove for the day for swimming and fishing. It was certainly hot enough to enjoy that big lake with highs in the 90s and lots of humidity. Tara came out with her 7 children and a friend that also had lots of children to swim. Mike and Diane had the Honegger's all out this afternoon. The place was busy with Willow giving Jeep rides and others having fun on the 4 wheelers. Karin offered to help with all the trail rides. No pictures, I was just too busy and too hot to head over.
