Radial Nerve Injury

Right after the walk I loaded Jenis up and drove to Hoerr Vet clinic in Morton, IL just so she could have her blood drawn for her coggins test. As soon as I got home from there I went to work vacuuming out the dressing room of the Keifer Built horse trailer. Braelyn, Taegan, Kensley and Berlica helped with removing the last of the items and carrying down the brand new mattress for the bed of the trailer.
They found the award Karin and I won at the Horse fair a couple years ago in that trailer and had to pose with it.
Once that was finished I drove in to B & L Trailer in Peoria and picked up a new camper cord, drove to Phil and Anna's where the trailer was, took the  horse trailer cord out of that trailer and put in the new cord then brought the cord here and plugged it in to make sure the air conditioner still works on that trailer. We are taking that horse trailer and the van and camping trailer to Current River in Missouri on Thursday and will be home Saturday evening. There are 14 of us going and we are using the horse trailer to take the canoes and kayaks.  The air conditioner was turned on and left while I went to the lake to grab some kids to help with pictures and a video.  They were all having a ball out in the lake canoeing and swimming.

The person buying Josiah wanted some conformation pictures. When the grandkids were done swimming Taunya brought them over with the golf cart. Addyson helped first with Josiah.

Next we brought Madiera and her colt Kyro.  Kyro was discovered dragging his left front leg. He was taken to Dr. Hoerr's and diagnosed with a radial nerve injury. More than likely he slammed into a fence post and the nerve went numb or was kicked but there was no mark. It looked pretty terrible and of course the first thing going through my mind was a shoulder injury. It was wierd though, the colt was not in any pain, just wasn't moving his leg forward to walk but when moved it forward he could stand on it with no problem and even take steps. Dr. Hoerr gave him a steroid shot then came the next day to do acupuncture. This morning he was greatly improved. The owner of the colt had been told and she asked her group for prayers for him. So I'm sure it wasn't just the acupuncture that helped, prayers were answered. This injury was another first for us and to think we have been in business since 2002 raising 12-20 foals a year. We are always learning new things even after 18 years. The video below was sent to his owner. The first couple steps he is short but it is not slowing him down at all.
Dr. Hoerr feels he will be completely sound within a month.  The grandkids were all watching him have a ball outside.
He really is a sweet colt. Check out that thick mowhawk of a forelock and mane and his tail is also quite thick and long. Madiera and Evan always through massive amounts of hair.

Hope his owner likes to brush hair.
As soon as they were put away the horse trailer airconditioner was checked and the dressing room was nice and cool. Thankful it works!  After supper Mark wanted to sharpen the blades on the bush hog mower and needed my help. I drive the skid steer and hold up the mower while Mark crawls under and uses his grander to sharpen the blades. When he finished he tried them out by mowing the 50 foot strip. Tonight was our first night of VBS. Mom had to drive as the rest of us was busy but we were able to watch it on Facebook Live. What a blessing that has been.
