Struck Gold

We had a good walk while enjoying stories from the 2019 Indian camp. The Indians learned to work and play together with the older Indians helping the younger. We are always amazed at how Joan commands their attention while making learning FUN! Yesterday they were able to paint their clay pots and vases made with the clay they harvested out of Diane's pond on Tuesday.

They all also got their war paint on for the big hike just in case they came upon a neighboring tribe.

Joan taught them to find a good stick to use as a bow and then helped them each make an arrow.

The horse back rides were going on as the arrows were being made. We were able to take 5 to 10 riders at a time.

The Indians were pretty thrilled to be able to take the horse by themselves out on the trails. While this was going on we could hear thunder rumbling from the west.  Beth called to report this storm was dropping hail in Canton so the horses were cantered back to the barn and tied in the indoor arena. The Indians all took shelter in Joan's garage while she taught them more of Indian survival.
Thankfully the storm passed without dropping any rain and the horse back riding continued. At lunch we had visitors. Amy brought out some of her family to see the Indians and the horses. Some of the Indians were glad to give them rides on the horses.

Rebekah and Riley enjoyed a ride on Sangria.
Zion came with her mom and her baby sister Eden and enjoyed swimming.
 Rhonda's grandson's enjoyed the playground.
Elisabet also enjoyed the playground while the Indians were building their bows and arrows.
After lunch was the big hike.

After the hike all were glad to jump in the lake to cool down. Mom bought that big green floating mat on Tuesday evening and as a surprise had the Indians carry it down to the lake and open it up. They all had a ball playing on that.
They enjoyed boat rides and finished the camp with another canoe race.
Below is a short video of some of the activities over the 3 day camp.
Everyone really enjoyed the 2019 Indian camp and next year want it to be ALL SUMMER!  For some reason we can't figure out why Joan would not go along with that idea.
This morning as I was working on the pictures and videos from yesterday Diane called to tell me that I really did need to go to the garage sales across the road.  I stopped working, went and felt like I struck gold.  I spent $61.00 at 2 different garage sales but bought towel sets for the apartment, 8 chairs, church toys and even a stuffed animal for Emma but when I brought it home decided it was too nice to give it to her.
