Another Snow Storm

Another cold morning, so cold that Galena's water tank was all iced over. The ice was broken up and more water added, then the mares in the stall barn fed and watered. Marika has not been happy that Soul and Star are now spending the nights in the stall barn. She is just sure they are going to try to steal her 'precious' baby and keeps circling him, pinning her ears at them each time they move in their stalls. She is one proud mama.  Mark just isn't feeling well yet so stayed home from church. Mom and I went together and got to hear Elise Funk's father Tom have the morning message. Tim Roecker had the afternoon message. Both were good but the afternoon service really hit home. It is SO important to know your Bible and spend time in the Word.
After church Karin and Faith came over to get their horse fix.  We took Marika's colt out of his stall and out of the barn for the very first time since he was born. It was cold and the snow was on the way so didn't stay out long, just long enough for a few pictures.

The snow started up before I could bring a load of hay in. I'm so thankful for the stall barn. Marika's colt by Evan was nice and snug in his thickly straw bedded stall.
He is such as funny foal, he got up on his knees and stayed there for a bit while Faith was petting him.

For a size reference I asked Faith to stand behind him. Hard to believe his is not quite 2 days old in the picture below.
Mark and I joined Karin, Joan, Sarah, Faith, Mackenson, and Berlica at mom's for dinner tonight. We feasted on prime ribeye steak, baked sweet potatoes, sauteed onions and mushrooms, a big salad with all the fixins, dinner rolls and for dessert pumpkin bars and cookies. Just delicious!  After dinner mom, Joan, Faith, Mackinson and Berlica left for the mission while Karin, Sarah and I played a part of a game until the snow got so thick Karin felt she'd better leave for home and I went over to the barn to bring in mares and check on foals. Karin stopped on her way home to help bring in the mares. We don't have anyone hugely bagged up but Soul is starting to bag up and is due in 3 days and Star is also starting to bag up and is due in 4 days. We sure don't want to take a chance on anyone delivering out in 'this' weather. It is too dark to get good pictures now but the snow is coming down fast and sticking. Who would have thought on April 8th we would be in the middle of a snow storm. This winter is the longest winter I can remember in my 62 years.
