The Big Escape

Hadassah and her filly were taken to the cabin field to join Anna and her colt this morning after the walk.  Both mares were very suspicious of the other but they finally ended up eating off the same round bale. The foals were curious, Anna's colt would gallop almost up to Hadassah's filly then whirl and gallop back to his mom as fast as he could gallop. I wasted a good hour just watching. Sure wish I'd had the camera or the video camera with me. They were so funny to watch.
The arena cleaned and the stalls started on before heading in to warm up. My hands were pretty frozen since I'd forgot to put on gloves. This is the second day of Spring but again below freezing. We can't complain though the East coast is getting hammered with another big snow storm. Lola and Rosalie were put in Ribbon's old paddock in order to watch them and every couple hours I would walk up to check on both.
A very nice email came in from the lady that bought Anna's colt:
Good morning Judy,
I wanted to thank you for the opportunity of owning in our opinion one of the most beautiful horses of Gods creations, i'm a firm believer that our father will close every door until you reach the right door, then it opens and everything is put in place. Our daughter has waited for years there were many many doors closed and then God lead us to you, that door was open. We give all the honor and glory to our Lord for leading us to your door and making the dreams of one little girl come true.
Thank You Patti
PS. Here is a Picture when she finally realized her dreams came true..
This afternoon heading out to check on the mares I noticed the 5 weanlings grazing across the pond. They are not suppose to be in there yet, somehow they had untied and removed the rope tying the gate shut and all escaped.  EasterBonnet was the first to see me coming and took off galloping for the paddock.
The other 4 were so busy grazing they didn't notice until I called.
They popped their heads up.  Below left to right are Serenity, Darla and Envy.
 Then took off for home.

They were so cute lining up for attention, except Serenity, the one in the middle, had to be first to see if I had a treat with me.
They gladly followed me into their paddock where grain awaited then the gate was shut and a new rope found to tie it shut.  Even though the calendar says it is spring, winter is hanging on and the grass is not growing. We can't let the horses on the pasture until that happens.
Joan thought it was the perfect day to burn the dead grass and weeds off by the lake today. She thought she had it all planned out, had a good size firebreak where she wanted it to stop. It was going well when all of a sudden the wind picked up and the flames jumped the firebreak. She called for Mackenson to bring buckets of water yelling, "RUN Mackenson!"  Spark and Rhonda were out on their porch and saw the flames out of control, heard Joan yell for Mackenson and Spark started running to help. Fedi and Tyler were at mom's working on her basement when they saw the flames and heard Joan yell and they started running to help, Hannah pulled up heard her mom and started running to help but right about then Joan started praying, "Jesus, I need some help here" and just then the wind turned and the flames stopped just before Hannah, Spark, Fedi and Tyler got there.  That was a close call.
Dave Obergfel had the service at church tonight.
