Lost Mounting Block

Mom's eye doctor appointment was scheduled for 9:20 am at the Illinois Eye center on route 91. That appointment took pretty much all morning. I had told Rhoda I would be home by noon and ended up being 15 minutes late. Rhoda had already gotten a lot done but our main job today was to give Darla and Envy a bath. Their owner is coming to visit tomorrow afternoon. The instant hot water heater was taken out and hooked up but again I had problems with it. It would turn on then off instantly. We ended up hauling buckets of hot water from the house just getting the worst off. We de-wormed all three fillies (Darla, Envy and Serenity) each with a full dose of Panacur then I left all three fillies in the indoor for the night. Sure don't want them getting muddy and all the paddocks are muddy right now. Marika's paddock needed a new round bale which was done next. As I was walking back to the house I heard water running, not ever a good sign, sure enough Evan's waterer had a broken hose. The water was turned off until Mike could get here to fix it. The heating element had cracked too. Thankfully Mike had all the parts to repair it pretty quickly. Both of the 4 horse trailers are now cleaned out, vacuumed, and organized. Rhoda didn't quit until both were finished. We realized that we forgot our blue 3 step mounting block at the Illinois state fairgrounds. BUMMER. We had it in the warm up arena for others to use and forgot to bring it back to our stalls during the IL Horse Fair. With our tall horses we really need that piece of equipment.

We don't just use it to mount, we also use it as a training tool. In the picture above Rhoda is teaching a mare that being above her is OK.  I'll have to start saving up money to buy another. UPDATE on the mounting block SALLY one of the fair organizers found it and rescued it for us. YEAH she is bringing it up on Saturday.
Hadassah is the next mare due but her udder is not filling yet. Lola's udder swelled up this afternoon, so big that I drew a little colostrum and tested it. That showed she is no where near ready to deliver so she was left outside with Hadassah. Rosalie's colostrum is still running clear so she was left out too. Galena's udder went down so the only mare stalled tonight is Anna and her colt.  As long as the fillies don't leave too much of a mess in the indoor tomorrow morning should be an easy one, just one stall to clean and what ever mess in the indoor.  Serenity has an appointment tomorrow morning at Hoerr Vet to get her Coggins drawn. The 2 horse trailer was hooked up to the new truck and Serenity was brought out to practice loading by herself. She was a good girl and willingly loaded and unloaded 4 times without a problem. I wasn't sure how she would do as this is the first time we have asked her to load without her mother leading the way.
Anna's colt was marked sold on the website as the check came.  His owner called me today to tell me if Marika has a filly they want first dibs on that one too.
Tim Funk had the message tonight at church. It really was good to be there, the theme of the evening was on covenants.
