Goose Ranch Horses

We were up at 5:00 am and up at the barn by 6:00 am feeding and scooping poop. Those 3 fillies in the indoor left piles all over but they were actually well behaved. They didn't dump out anything, or knock the saddles off the stands which was what Rhoda and I thought they may do. Instead they ate most of the hay in their feeder and stayed away from the electric fence. Darla and Envy were stalled but Serenity was put out in the paddock. Nathan Herman and David Kellenburger arrived  to borrow the stock trailer around 6:45 am.  Nate's son Noah and David's daughter Shaeya were taking the Goose Ranch horses to Elmwood school today to give a training demonstration.
After the walk Serenity was loaded up in the 2 horse trailer and taken to Hoerr Vet clinic in Morton arriving 15 minutes early for our 10:00 am appointment. Dr. Pallen was available so she just came out to the trailer and drew her blood there, then since the trailer is plenty roomy she took the pictures for the Coggin's papers while Serenity was still in it. That went smooth as silk. Serenity was perfectly behaved for the needle stick and stood perfectly still for all of the pictures as if she knew she needed to pose. We were on our way home by just a few minutes after 10:00 am. When we arrived home Serenity was put back out in the paddock then Darla and Envy were given a good grooming. Their owner and his trainer arrived early to see them. I took them out to the outdoor arena so they could see them move. Both fillies were glad to be out of the stall and were glad to run.  They took lots of pictures but I forgot to bring my camera out and got none. Thankfully Michael sent a few when he got home.

 By the way, Michael is at least 6 feet tall which shows how tall Envy is in the picture below.

 Both girls were good, Michael, the owner, spent time with them, leading them and handling them. They were left in the outdoor while I went to get Evan, their sire. I thought Evan would do his usual 'airs above ground' but the warm sunshine made him very lazy. He didn't want to show off, he just wanted us to pet him.
Once the visitors left Anna and her colt were taken out to the outdoor arena. This was the first time the colt has been out of the stall. Anna dropped and rolled first thing. That sand felt great.

 The colt was having a ball trying out those long long legs. He was also driving Anna crazy as he would take off making her twirl around to keep him in her vision.

As soon as they were put back in the stall I left for Pekin, IL. Today I wanted to purchase the vaccines for Darla and Serenity at Big R but when I got there they were completely out. I still left there with a haul of 500 pounds of grain and 250 pounds of salt (5 blocks of salt each 50 pounds). Since Aldi is right next to Big R of course I stopped there for a few groceries. I needed to pick up vegetables for potluck on Saturday night but of course found some other good buys there.  I got home from there at 4:15 pm, unloaded all the grain, put a salt block in each of the mare paddocks then fed and watered Anna again and cleaned out  her stall.  We had a beautiful day but tomorrow the weather is suppose to go back to winter with a snow rain mix and cold temperatures so Anna and the colt will stay in a few days longer.  

Nate posted a few pictures of Noah and Shaeya showing Coke and Brista at Elmwood. Beth called to say it was very successful. 

Coke, the Appaloosa mare, was bred to Valiant last year. She is due July 18th. That is going to be one amazing foal. 

This evening each mare's udder was checked, a square bale brought in for Anna's stall, Anna fed and watered and the stall cleaned and now I'm ready for bed.
