More Company For Emma

Sarah Reinhard just sent the picture below of one of the many trigger fish pulled in down in Gulf Shores, AL. These are great eating and give a good fight. Joan pulled in this whopper. Just for reference the size limit to keep is 12 inches. This one is over 2 feet long and almost as fat and round as it is long. Joan reported it was really good eating.
WE had another cold morning, too cold to want to walk so after the horses were fed instead of walking, I drove to Big R in Pekin and bought another 40 pound bag of cat food, then over to Aldi for groceries and the last stop was Dollar General for combination locks.
Ebby arrived before I went shopping and was glad to come lay by the fire. Diane and Mike keep their mud room heated just for Ebby and she has a doggy door so she can come and go but she gets lonely. She heads to mom's house to play with Molly but if they are not home then comes over to our place to lay around with Emma.
Dan came over this afternoon with Diesel his Great Dane. Emma and Diesel have a love hate relationship. Diesel loves to irritate her and Emma hates Diesel. He is taller than she is and likes ALL of the attention.  He first plopped himself down next to Ebby who was laying in the sunshine.
Ebby walked off in a huff sure he was stealing her spot in the sun.
Soon though Diesel was sure he saw a squirrel by the old Oak tree and started barking which made both Emma and Ebby run to the door to check it out.
Diesel and Emma went running out to the tree to catch the squirrel but Ebby decided she didn't want to go out in the cold. They sure didn't stay out long. It is just too cold outside to stay out more than a few minutes.
News from Gulf Shores: Justin and Nate took the boat, Joan, Sarah, Shaeya, Tydon and Noah out into the Gulf of Mexico for fishing and did they ever pull in a haul. They actually broke their line 17 times with HUGE fish on. They were able to pull in the 35 pounders but some of the fish were just too big to bring in. Below are a few pictures.
Red snapper is not in season right now so all of those fish were catch and release. They caught lots of 20 pounders.

Above and below are Amberjack another good eating fighting fish.

They had thick steel leaders on their line and when they lost a fish on that with the leader sliced clean through they knew they had a shark on. Thankfully they lost ALL of the sharks.
It was cold even that far south but what an experience to pull in such big fighting fish! Good eating too, Sarah told me she is bringing home MEAT! They had a ball.
After work Mark and I drove back in to Meisters to make a deposit and pay some bills then drove to Riverplex for an aquatic work out. We swam, exercised in the lazy river and enjoyed the hot tub for an hour. We made an evening out of it stopping for a meal before heading home. Thankful we have the fire going strong, it was -6 as we were driving home and is suppose to go down to -10 tonight.
