Whitney AND Hadassah Pregnant

Early this morning I discovered Sheena had just given birth to her big colt. I was so busy getting them situated and the foal's cord iodined that I didn't notice what else had happened during the night. Emily popped in to ask, "did you notice Valiant is in with Indy and Soul?" NOPE and OH NO was the reaction. Emily reported he was staying away from the mares so he must have been kicked pretty good. We think Indy was out and praying he didn't cover her, Soul we knew was in and hopefully that was the ONLY mare he covered. You see Indy is Valiant's sister. Emily locked him in his paddock until the fence is repaired. Zalena was still in and covered and while that was happening, Mara showed. Mara is pictured below. We will try to cover her tomorrow morning as Evan was used today.

With Sheena and her colt now stalled Eliza and Mara were put together. Eliza is such a kind mare and will show Mara where the best grazing is in the pond pasture. I was pleased to see them grazing together not long after they were introduced.
William the farrier came today and trimmed up Whitney, Mara, George and Valiant.

As soon as he finished with Whitney, she and Hadassah were loaded up for a trip to Hoerr Vet clinic where both were confirmed in foal by ultrasound.

They are due exactly the same day April 5th, 2017.  The sire of Whitney's foal is Valiant while the sire of Hadassah's foal is Evan. 

The other part of the day was the morning spent at the Berean office. We had quite a day there, more than usual amount of mail that just couldn't be processed before lunch. To read about our morning there click HERE. 

This evening Mark took the skid steer over to mom's to help load gravel for the retaining walls Tim is working on. Mark had been mowing when Tim called for help so I took over the mowing and that will be the last time I do that until we get something on that mower to stop the grass from blowing straight into the face. We are both covered in grass clippings. 

The last job of the evening was to clean Sheena's stall, fill her water bucket and give her another load of hay.
