Giant Goose Ranch

Horsemeister was asked to provide a couple horses and handlers for the fishing tournament the Giant Goose Ranch was hosting for Camp Big Sky from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. It takes about 45 minutes to drive to the Goose (as we call it) so wanted to leave around 9:00 am to give us 15 minutes to set up. Before we needed to leave laundry needed to be started, mares teased and covered, stalls cleaned and horses fed and believe it or not all got done in plenty of time. Sheena was the only mare covered as she is the only mare in season right now.
Karin came early to tack up the horses before we loaded them and all the items needed for the pony rides. Those went well, the weather was perfect, the horses were perfect and the campers all seemed to enjoy them. Below are a few pictures:

If interested in seeing the rest of the pictures click HERE. We finished up right at 1:00 pm and were back on the road by 1:10 pm. That was a record as far as tear down. It was kind of funny though a bunch of boys came running following the trailer all the way out to the road. We were thinking maybe we should stop but Karin was sure they just wanted more pony rides. We drove straight to Middle Grove and dropped of Bunni and Missy then headed to Bs for an ice cream cone as a reward for our hard work. As soon as we got back to Hanna City, the trailer was unloaded then I took off with the truck and trailer and drove down to TSC to pick up a pallet of bedding. There was just 1 bag of bedding left here. A pallet load is 50 bags and that lasts us most of the year. Mark unloaded it with the skid steer and the pallet fork and put it in the indoor arena near the side door.  The next job was to drive to Big R for a bag of beet pulp and 12 bags of grain then to Aldi to pick up a bunch of groceries for tomorrow. The weather is suppose to be nice again so most of the kids are coming over for Sunday supper and volley ball. Once home Mark helped unload the 700 pounds of grain and brought in 3 bags of bedding to add to the stalls tonight. While I was up there Eliza was fed, watered and the stall cleaned. This was a long day, lots of driving and hauling but I am very glad to have it all done. I feel SO very rich with a barn full of grain and a pallet load of bedding.
