Graduation Party

Mom had a scare with Molly this morning. She found Molly in her closet eating embroidery thread. Mom started taking it out of her mouth and pulled out a foot or so when the thread broke. We were praying she would be fine. Mom had to leave for church early as today was the senior breakfast with both Steven Davidovics and Logan Sauder graduating. Well Fede is in Romania and Ruth was needed at the Lewistown jail so mom as asked to take their place at the breakfast.
Tim Roecker had the morning service and a visitor from Sabetha, KS had the afternoon. When mom got home from church Molly seemed fine. We stopped in to see Phil and Anna's progress on their house on our way home.
It was sprinkling but by the time we arrived the clouds and rain had blown toward the east and the sun was shining. Just a perfect day to play with the equipment outside.
Mark used the road grader to prepare the ground for the new round pen.

That worked so well I asked him to also run it on the arena. It pulled the weeds out and graded it at the same time.

 Mark took the tractor back and brought out the skid steer to start spreading lime on the prepared ground for the round pen. 

 Rhonda arrived with 3 of her grand daughters to see the new foals.

 Emma and her colt by Evan were brought out first. This was his first time to be outside the stall. He is 4 days old and quite the show-off. This is a purebred Friesian colt and also happens to be for sale.

 Next out was Ribbon and her day old filly by Valiant. This filly is just HUGE. Tomorrow I'll see if I can get someone to stand next to her for a picture. These 2 foals are just 3 days apart but the difference in size is shocking. Ribbon always did throw big ones.

Mike arrived to work on the breeding shed paddock. His truck is prepared for about any problem that pops up and with horses there are always problems with fencing.

He even got the electric fence back working on that paddock. Rachel and Ruth invited everyone to the playground for a graduation party for Steven and Logan. They provided a dinner for over 50 people.

 Above everyone is enjoying the meal while below Ruth is enjoying her grandson.

 Mark and I left when the volley ball started. I still needed to work on the pasture fence while Mark wanted to work on his pond pump. As soon as the electric fence was up Indy, her filly by Evan, Zalena and her filly by Evan and Jenis were turned out into the new area. Check out how tall this grass is in the picture below. This is Indy's filly by Evan wading through the thick tall grass.

 The mares were thrilled to be out grazing but the fillies had more fun galloping around than eating.

A nice email with a picture came in from Vicki, Rohan's owner. Rohan is by Raven out of a paint mare named Velvet.

Vicki writes:

my phone takes lousy pics inside so not the best of Rohan  he is much prettier in person.

I am glad I went for a bigger horse I am Tall. He is probably 16.2.   

What a gem this guy is.  We are struggling with balance and canter but it's coming along.  He is so willing.
