PotLuck

The first job on the list today was to shuffle bales around, moving the new bales to the back and the old bales to the front of the barn to be used up first. We have 18 left from last year that must be used before we start on the new bales. I worked on that while Mark picked up Nick, a 16 year old wanting to work. Mark was taking down trees on the edge of the field while Nick was piling up the branches. It was really hot and humid, the high today was 92 degrees and both came back wet with sweat. After a ice cold water break they were back at it for a couple more hours. Below they are coming in for lunch, Mark with his wagon load of tools and Nick on the golf cart.

Nick was a great help, Mark wants to hire him again next week to help at the Old School Center. The authorities have released the building so Dan is planning a work day Saturday the 19th. That happens to be the vaulting camp so Karin and I will not be able to help.
The mares were teased, Ayanna is no longer showing so I will mark her out. Marika is still in and covered by Valiant. They were both stalled for the afternoon to get the fillies out of the hot sun. We put the bale spear on the tractor and moved one of the new alfalfa bales in the breeding shed then moved the weanlings over. The weanlings need the protein and more calories than a grass bale has. By the time we finished we were so hot we joined Diane for a swim in her pond to cool off. That pond has the most refreshing cool water. We brought over the shampoo and conditioner and washed hair while swimming.  We had to make that a quick dip as we were due at Ruth's house for potluck by 5:00 pm. Ruth invited a bunch of the Berean volunteers tonight and had a good group show up.

The food was delicious and the fellowship even better. We learned a little about what each person does for Berean. Fedi brought out the snake for one of Rachel's boys to hold.
As soon as I got home from potluck the 2 mares and fillies needed to be let out of the barn into the cooler air. I'm too tired to clean the stalls tonight and will leave that job for morning.
A nice email came today from Sunny's new owner, she writes: Sunny loves taking his shower after our ride, and then drinking out of the hose too! Haha
Have I ever mentioned how much we enjoy hearing from the new owners? Especially when they include pictures. Thank you  Cynthia, we love knowing Sunny is enjoying his new home and his new owners are enjoying him!
