Sheet of Ice

It is like a frozen wilderness outside, the driveways are still a sheet of ice. We had quite a time on the walk, even with skids on it was almost possible to skate. The truck was covered with a quarter inch of ice and both doors frozen shut. It took lots of hot water to finally be able to open the door. Gary Byerline is going to look at the truck and trailer lights tomorrow. I'll drive it in and leave it at his garage. Sissy and Star needed to be covered. Star was taken out first and carefully led to the breeding stand with bad results. It was just too icy for her to stand there. She was take over to the stallion pen, tied to a fence post then Even brought out. Once he was done, Sissy was taken out for Valiant. Karin arrived to work the boys with round pen reasoning but it was so slippery she figured out the only safe way to get them into the barn was bringing them through the field the back way. While she was busy with them I was trying to water the arena but all of the hoses were frozen except a small one that only reached half way. The big hose was taken into the apartment and left in the shower to defrost. Philip got the website fixed enough for me to finish updating. It is now back on line thankfully. Karin reported that vaulting went well, Ribbon was great after her long vacation at Middle Grove. Karin has 14 vaulters all wanting to perform at the IL Horse Fair.
